Yahoo news says 7 million but I can't see how since this year there were over double the entrants making first place at least 10 million. Unless they pay more towards the other places....

Well this article from Yahoo news says 7 million. I was having a discussion with a friend trying to tell him it has to be at least 10 million. The article says "around 7 million". There's a considerable difference between 7 and 10 million.

Cardplayer.com says the prize is $10 mil, but doesn't go into any further details.

Well if you go onto Yahoo's front page today, there is an article from the Chicago Tribune saying 1st place is 7 million. I guess it doesnt matter unless you're a pokernut like myself and want to get the facts straight!

they haven't released any numbers officialy yet......i'm gonna say it's gonna be 11-12 million and everyone at final table is going to become a millionaire.

7 million is too small considering there is 5600 players minimum, maybe even more...and last years price was 5 million with about 3000 less people in it

They don't know yet because the field isn't finalized. I believe you can still get into the tournament.

Not only does a final table appearance make you a (pre-tax) millionaire, it opens the door to who knows how much $$$$$$ worth of endorsement offers, appearance fees, etc.

If they made it much wider then it would be susceptible to lots of deals and I believe the WSOP staff want to avoid having deals during the biggest tournament in history to avoid the stigma it could put on the game in the general public's eye. Notice how few deals are getting out these days, used to be deals happened more often than not in the bigger prize tourneys including the WSOP. When it was under the old structure of 40%/20% to the top two, it was crazy not to make one.
