What's the formal policy on links ?

Some seem to be OK, while others aren't ! A direct link to a competing site with forums seems very taboo, so euphanisms like Peep's, or across the street are used. Shrink's site (EOG)address got thru to about everyone, as did Visor-man's.

The whole policy seems inconsistent . J Detroit seems liked so links to his better than Rx live lines, may stand ! Links to non-advertising books often stand, hard to discuss them otherwise.

What's the paronia ? Wong's site lists Rx as a useful link and refers people here, but if I posted a link to there, Rx wouldn't like it ! I found Rx from a link at Wong's !

Often you just can google it without an actual link. If I googled "Shrink and General"... I believe I'd find it quick !

TOW is OK, since he links here ! linking Fez site to here, maybe quote something interesting, may or may not fly... depends on who posts it !

It's all very much a game ! Some stuff gets buried in RR, other stuff doesn't ?

doug, whe I was tring to say "Peep's place" before, I even tried to spell it backawards and it was edited out by the software.

I hope the "new ownership" realizes that links to other places are OK. Peep links to this place probably 1 out of every 10 threads,,,it brings traffic here for them.

Agreed that the policy has been inconsistent!

Yeah, the policy should be stated. I've heard " no links" if so that's widely violated !

It seems to be only links we don't object to !

Rx. links policy

We are now trying use less censorship as a general policy. When it comes to links Rx. policy is not allow links to other directly competing gambling portals plus other websites that we consider to be using the Rx. for free advertising, (as mentioned this can sometimes be subjective). We do allow liinks to news agencies when stories are copied in threads.
Doug you are correct some links are OK while others are not. To put it very plainly for everyone to understand:
Posting the names of OGD, EOG, MW, Covers or any number of others is fine. providing links is not. I am sure there are links standing right now to MW and others but I don't believe in going on a retro-active witch hunt for old links.

Bottom line posters pretty much know that posting any kind of link that promotes or diverts our posters to other competing sites will not stand.

Thanks, wil.

Wil,

I don't mean to start a flame, but it seems that you're very subjective in answering questions as well.

A couple of months back I asked about the link policy when I had a link to my website deleted, but I never received an anwer from you.

Is that because I don't have 5000 posts that I didn't get an answer?

I just don't understand why for some is OK to post links to other sites (including mine) and for others is not.

Surely the link policy should regard the websites not the posters...

PierO quite frankly I do not recall your email, your post count btw is not a factor. Like I said links that promote competing gambling websites will not be allowed to stand. Other links for example to the USA Today are allowed. That IMO is cut and dry.

I don't know how the Supreme Court would rule these days...But my idea is that this forum is owned by private individuals, who can and WILL do whatever they want concerning what links they let stand and what links they don't let stand.

Ain't nothing here....."cut and dry".

Guys, lets break this down, to the simplest form, THE RX IS NOT HERE to help build traffic for YOUR site....simple

We have sportsbooks that pay to advertise here, therefore it would be stupid to allow you to promote here for free.....

If a poster posts about an article in the New York Times, and puts a link, it will be left alone...obviously the New York Times is not shilling here to get subscribers....

But when a guy with one post comes here claiming, BEST BONUSES on the net, check us out, and links, well then its obvious....

And no, we dont want links to other forums here either....If they choose to allow links to our site, that is their choice....in some instances if they didnt have links to us, they WOULDNT HAVE ANYTHING.........

However we dont send employees over to their site, trying to "sneak" links in, or constantly mention our name, hoping to get some traffic....and we expect the same courtesy, and will enforce it....

We are under new ownership, and are constantly working on ways to improve our site, and therefore it was a group decision by the owners, and mods, that we provide a more "open" forum, with less censorship, and this is what we are doing....We are dealing with 2 seperate issues here.....no one is gonna be deleted for "mentioning" another site, or even referring to something they read there, however we DONT WANT LINKS......if a poster wants to go read the article, or the post, then go, and have fun.....We simply don't want people "linking" our posters to other sites from us....

However we no longer will be worried about people mentioning other sites, as long as they are not here trying to shill "their" site non stop....

Bucsfan,

I was prepared to let it go as Wil didn't answer my question and I don't really care anyway...but you seem to have me confused with somebody else.

What about this:

A moderator here posted links to articles/news on my site, I thought it was OK for me as well...I posted a link and it got deleted.

I asked why it is OK for somebody else to post links to MY site and I couldn't...I never got an answer.

And now you're talking about courtesy...

Well, I believe in RXland that makes a lot of sense...

Well Pier, i dont have u confused with someone else, cuz i dont know who you are, or what site you have.....the comment about "courtesy" was not directed at any one person, i was simply answering the question that you posed....the explanation was not "directed" at you, just answering you....

If you would like to email me at bucsfan67@therx.com and let me know what link you are talking about, or who used it, i would be happy to get an answer for you...and if you arent a competing gambling website, than i am sure it would be ok to link articles/news, etc.....

I was simply trying to help answer your question, that i am sure Wil didnt see.....

The post in question by Pier0.

http://forum.therx.com/showthread.php?p=1871791#post1871791

The problem is he asked the question at 6:27AM EDT back in April. Not making excuses but I was not on duty around the clock, back then I always signed off at 4:00 AM EDT. When I came back the following evening I didn't look up the thread. I generally try to answer any direct questions when I see them. I just missed this one, sorry.

I like all of our mods and think all of them try to be fair as possible - which they are

but to say that there is less censorship lately is an overstatement
