How to find a local

Ive been interested in fantasy football since forever, and am looking to have some mroe fun this football season by making some bets. Nothing big 25-100 a game, but I dont want to deposit money online, and I dont really know many gamblers where I live that I could just ask someone for a bookie. So whats the best way to go about finding a local guy?
ps Im new to sportsbetting as you can probably tell, any links to handicapping etc?

Hang out at a Sportsbar or gym and see who is watching the games. Get more friends and ask them.

I wasnt looking for one here...just so you guys know, dont want to get the stink eye or anything. I actually go to the gym 4 times a week, but its more of a hardcore weightlifter club, not a bally's, dont think there are any there. Ill hit some sportsbars though, thanks.

Why are you afraid of offshore ? Many fine books exist, it's just plain easier.

I know a bookie that has lots of managers from titty bars that bet with him, maybe ask some of the dancers or managers at topless bars too. I myself prefer offshore.

I bet for fun. Telling a girl you are going to be late because you have to pick up an envelop full of cash is a lot cooler than saying I have to click and point my mouse, before I can come over and nail ya'. Id assume a lot of idiot bettors who just want to have some fun agree.

Many time with a local you are restricated to times to bet etc...Off-shore is the way to go..OOOOH by the way what about when you have to tell her you will be late because you have to drop off a envelope, and by the way we will be eating at Taco Bell instead of that nice resturant..........G.

See, the trick is, not to tell them that part. But I see your points, its more of a action junkie thing for me I guess. Im dumb as a brick I know.

Yeah, that's not bad if you get payouts that way Doug. A friend of mine used to always take his payouts by that method. He used to have 3-4 checks coming per week because he was so cautious and took requested them every time he would get up a certain amount.....

how about picking up gobs of cash from Bogota Colombia at the western union office with every one staring at you like they know for sure that you are a coke dealer? (doesnt hurt to wear one your favorite football jersey, with a couple of gold chains hanging off your neck) Then you can play gangsta' all you like

if that was your main goal at this game in the first place

I only do it Fed-ex rarely, like when free, but it should impress a chick more than a local's cash, IMO, if that's your aim !

Ask your dentist, doctor, or lawyer whom they play with, they are usually notorious slow-pay degens.

Find out where high stakes Poker is played locally

Join a country club, and/or ask some golf pros how they get down action

Find the best sports bars in your town, ask the barkeep whom the betting crowd is there

Pool halls always have small BMs

Car salesmen are degenerate parlay card bettors/MNF junkies, ask one

Look into local tv, police, or fed web archives, it often has records of BMs busted in the past

Check with some of your alumni chapter big athletic donation people, and odds are that some bet with the best locals

Any finer local Italian restaurant owner will know the A-list of local BMs by name, if not personally

Any Jewish deli owner could probably lead you to a good one

OTBs,etc..

Or you could move to Costa Rica, and go shopping at the San Pedro Mall?

The only edge a local has for you is that he may let you on games a few minutes after post when you get caught napping, free square-ups, credit(all the rope one would want to hang one self), longer duration open-ended parlays/teasers, and possibly softer numbers

If once you find a good one, and he never refers you forward to a larger one..it means he wants to keep you in his pocket.

He'll never have as many offerings nor 7 cent juice as does offshore.

People asking for locals on bulletin boards is second only to Borat's "wanting to make romance inside her" as far as making me chuckle..good stuff.
