D-Rays on pace to lose 113 games :drink:

Lou declares "all starters will relieve and all relievers will start, and he needs an Excedrin" :digit:

Florida has been a second half team too....they need to find a third baseman though.

The Cubs are such a waste of talent. I dont care about the injuries. The Braves have more injuries than the Cubs.

First half comentary:

Surprise teams

Chicago Whitesox- Pitching way over there heads. Starters and bullpen
Nationals- Smoke and Mirrors. I know they have a nice team, but how are they winning at that pace.
Baltimore- Still hanging in there with 47 wins

Disapointing teams

Yankees- even though I was not expecting much, I have to list them because of there payroll alone.

Dodgers- 37-50 Much better team on paper than that.

Cubs- Unbelievable

Teams that will rise up in the 2nd half

Flordia- The 2nd biggest underachiving team in league right now.
Houston- Will fight for a wild card. enough pitching to hang around
Cleveland- Watch out Twins and Sox!!!
Oakland- The Young pitching is comming together

Another impressive job by Oakland GM Billy Beane...

Beane used Hudson and Mulder to re-stock the A's farm with power arms....if this organization just had a fighters chance, they have a great farm system, Beane keeping them competitive on a shoe string budget..

...sad really, MLB needs a cap.

My guess:
Number of teams leading their divisions now to win the divisions?
Over 4.5 -140
Under 4.5 +120

This information is for newsmatter only :lolBIG:

People are getting up on the A's but lets call it as it is. They have a pretty sorry lineup and a so so rotation. Pen isn't too bad. They are a .500 team at best on paper and what do you know, they sport about a .500 record. It is impressive they can have a .500 team considering the limitations they have in payroll and having so many guys leave, but this year its finally catching up to them. When your best player arguably is Mark Kotsay, its time to get realistic. I mean the leading hitter is batting .280 and they have two guys with double digits in homers, at 12 and 10. I would love to bet the second half under on the wins, I think this team will fold up quickly not too long after the break.

That makes me wonder, why not add some break excitment and put up o/u wins for each team from today?

Pretty solid number WB... the over is tempting though.

I will bump this in Sept....

I believe 5 of the 6 current leaders will win their divisions.

The A's just getting back to .500 is very impressive, this is my adopted team i feel sorry for....I don't know how they keep the few fans they have... developing fine players but can't keep any of them...

A's fans can rest easy, I don't think anyone outside of maybe Kotsay and Chavez are of any interest to others for at least a year or two. Street looks good so far as the stopper, but guys who start out as go to guys in their early 20s don't always pan out as long-term projections. Lets face it the A's aren't just thin, they need a number of upgrades. Their outfield is hitting about .250 between them with 24 homers in total. That just isn't going to get it done. The pitchers do have some upside, but in some cases like Blanton and Barry Z it could have only gotten better considering how they started.

The lineup they have this season is almost the same lineup they had last year quility wise. The only difference is the starting pitching.
Mark Mulder was nothing short of awful the 2nd half of the season last year. Barry Zito was pathitic too all last season. And Tim Hudson did not exactly lite the world on fire after the allstar break either. With all that being said, they still only came 1 game short of winning a division title.

Now you take this year. Zito as finnaly comming out of his 2 year funk. Harden is turning into the stud that everyone said he would be. And Haren and Blanton are getting better every start.

If you look at it from that standpoint you can see why they may hang around for a little while.

I agree totally, the A's have come from way way back...and they have also been a team that goes on a second half tear , every year...its usually in late July early August....where this team is scoring runs from though, I don't see it.
