I Think There is a Very Good Chance that Pat Riley Will Coach the Heat Next Season...

I am not too sure if everyone is aware of the controversy surrounding Van Gundy/Riley and the Heat's head coaching spot for next season. There have been numerous columns written here in the local papers about the possibility of Riley coming back next season to coach the Heat. It is also the hottest topic down here for sports talk radio. At first, I dismissed the issue as garbage. However, I have now been swayed into thinking that there is a very good chance, better than 50%, that Riley comes back next season to be the head coach of the Miami Heat. There are 3 main reasons as to why I think this may happen. First off, Riley is well aware of all the talk in the media and on the radio, however he has not come out publicly to make a statement dismissing the idea. Secondly, when Van Gundy was asked about the issue in today's paper, he responded with saying that he is the Heat coach "for now". He did not sound too confident that he will be the coach when the season starts. The third reason is that I have been told from Ira Winderman, the Heat's beat writer for the Sun-Sentinel, that the coaching issue is currently "up in the air". This now puts some legitimacy to this issue. Personally, I think that the Heat orginization would be doing Stan a great diservice by removing him from the head coaching spot. This should get interesting.....

That's ridiculous. Reminds me of what happened to Rick Carlisle in Detroit...Larry Brown essentially STOLE his championship, stole his blood, sweat, and tears, all the effort he put into rebuilding the Pistons. Shit makes me sick, and is the main reason I HATE Detroit and now Joe Dumars(although I still love Darko!). But that shit is ridiculous. If Stan the Porn Star gets fired, it'd be such bullshit. Thanks for the info.

For the record, Rick Carlisle is a GREAT coach. I don't even like Indiana, but you better believe I'm pulling for them to win if the Wizards don't...so yeah, it's safe to say I want Indiana.

I could see it happening...Riley's ego is huge and knows he can win with this team.

It would be a complete slap in the face to Van Gundy who is an excellent coach. A very tasteless move by the organization if it does happen.

Of course it's be tasteless, it'd be CLASSLESS...but if Riley wins a title, no one will remember that Van Gundy got canned. Sad but true.

Agree 100%. This team will have no better chance winning it all if Riley is the coach. Stan did an incredible job last season. The team could not have accomplished anymore if Riles was the coach last season. The Heat were a healthy thigh and a healthy rib away from getting to the Finals. It had nothing to do at all with the coaching. I hope Stan stays and finishes off what the Heat started last season.
