I am not too sure if everyone is aware of the controversy surrounding Van Gundy/Riley and the Heat's head coaching spot for next season. There have been numerous columns written here in the local papers about the possibility of Riley coming back next season to coach the Heat. It is also the hottest topic down here for sports talk radio. At first, I dismissed the issue as garbage. However, I have now been swayed into thinking that there is a very good chance, better than 50%, that Riley comes back next season to be the head coach of the Miami Heat. There are 3 main reasons as to why I think this may happen. First off, Riley is well aware of all the talk in the media and on the radio, however he has not come out publicly to make a statement dismissing the idea. Secondly, when Van Gundy was asked about the issue in today's paper, he responded with saying that he is the Heat coach "for now". He did not sound too confident that he will be the coach when the season starts. The third reason is that I have been told from Ira Winderman, the Heat's beat writer for the Sun-Sentinel, that the coaching issue is currently "up in the air". This now puts some legitimacy to this issue. Personally, I think that the Heat orginization would be doing Stan a great diservice by removing him from the head coaching spot. This should get interesting.....
