Is one of the best play by play guys around. Be it hockey or baseball the guy calls a great game and makes it exciting without just sounding like a hype job. In Canada we have the option of the Fox American Feed or the International feed of the all star game which Thorne is doing

I grew up listening to Gary and Bob Murphy doing mets games. Every time i catch a game he is doing it brings back memories boy... Very good guy and announcer

Thorne is very solid, imo.

But nothing beats McCarver describing the game as if he was in the ocean doing play by play of Hurricane Dennis

gary thorne and bill clement; only the nhl breeds quality announcers. Ranger fans are spoiled by Sam Rosen and John Davidson. Devils fans have Chico and Mike Emerick.

What does the nba have? Hubie "Reptile" Brown and Al "degenerate" Michaels.

Got to meet him and talk to him for a few seconds after the Arizona State/Cal State Fullerton SR G1 - the controversial ending one

seems like a cool guy who REALLY knows his stuff

he is GRAT on hockey - along with Clement and Davidson

Don't forget Pat Foley of the Blackhawks. Makes watching a crappy team at least somewhat enjoyable.

Was Gary THorne the announcer that did the Iowa-LSU Capital One Bowl game this past New Years? If so, then that guy is the MAN. His call at the end of the game when Holloway caught that 56 yard TD strike from Tate, fantastic call, watched it over and over again. great play, great call, great game.
