This saturday on HBO

IS this not easy money?! why is Hopkins only -170

Just becuase Hopkins is 40? He'll muff this kid, he's faster and has by far the more sound technique. His inside game will rip Taylor apart

I cant even wait. Fight of the year.

I don't know how you can call it the fight of the year. It will be pretty one sided. He does not throw as many punches as he used to. Yet his percentages are climbing. He KO's him in the 6th:suomi:

I am somewhat of a boxing newbie, but from what I have seen it seems like a close fight and the value would be on Taylor.

I've been betting boxing for a very long time and I'm no square. This seems to be a very brave move to put Money on Taylor when He hasn't beat anyone even in Hopkins Class ? I will predict a slow and methodical beating. Taylor needs more seasoning and will soon be ready but not this Saturday IMO

<HR style="COLOR: #fdde82" SIZE=1> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->If you like Hopkins you must love the less than 2-1 lay. I remember years ago when I was covering the Hagler Mugabi fight I was sitting in the sports book and started talking to some sharps who were waiting for one fight to retire on. They figured after the Mugabi fight Hagler would fight Donald Curry (at the time considered a top pound for pound) and Hagler would come 250 or less. It looks like they had that one figured as even the Hagler that lost to Leonard would have crushed Curry. For you guys that believe in Hopkins this might be your Hagler Curry fight.
I posted this in another forum. Even with what I say above I have been waiting to bet Taylor since before the fight was made. I think Hopkins is much like Tszyu and is wearing down. However it looks like I waited too long as the price on Taylor is getting smaller.

I hate big chalk, but this should be a one sided BEATDOWN and well worth the -150ish price.

Over by the 6th.

You BHop guys are outta control. Taylor's jab is just as good as Hop's. There will be no knockout. I'm a Taylor fan, and he may not win. But he will not get knocked out. Lay the -200 and take the over, this one is going to the cards.

You guys aren't listening. Taylor is a very good fighter but He's green as a cucumber ! In a few years He will be a real Champ but He will not win this fight and - 155 is a bargain ! Nobody listened to me when I told everyone to take Floyd Mayweather to win by a knock out last fight either. Way too soon for Taylor to be meeting a great Champ like Hopkins.

I think the biggest argument the taylor backers use is the fact that big mouth bernard is 40 now. hopkins wants to ruin this guy and i expect to him fight the fight of his life.Forget the age hopkins is still hungry. Taylor has lightning fast jabs but i think hopkins will do what he does best, Frustrate him until he makes a mistake. Anything on Hopkins under 160 is a gift imo. Taylor reminds me of Eddie George in a way. Looking at him the guy looks like the total package but underneath the facade there is something missing. We'll see...

Hopkins is going to win IMO. Why? Sometimes people overlook subtle things. Taylor has looked VERY good against marginal opposition but he has some noticeable flaws...

1. Not an infighter from what I have seen

2. his footwork is not to good. This is why Hopkins will win IMO. Hopkins can move very well, Taylor can look a bit plodding at times

Taylor has the speed and power to beat most fighters but i pick Hopkins because of the littler stuff. My play....

Some fairly sharp money has landed on Taylor's side. He does not have any jab, it is a stiff left jab, the worst possible punch for a lie and wait Hopkins.

Next, Hopkins actually made his name, finally, after punishing two inflated welters, Tito and Oscar, who were also, past their primes. Now he gets a real middleweight, in his prime, with a weapon that could cause enormous problems for Bernard.

Fight of the year already happened with Diego. This reminds me of guys that just keep going, and get stopped. Sugar Ray vs. Norris? He just got beaten, badly. What about pound for pound best ever Roy Jones Jr.? Did he lose it overnight or what? This kid is no walkover, no laydown and no inflated welter.

Too close to call, and most of the value has been taken on Taylor early. If forced to take a spot, I would hesitate but take the over, as I agree, it will go to the cards. Both cautious and patient fighters. No Diego here.

Best Wishes...OF:howdy:

If it goes to the cards, how much will Taylor get for his jab? To me, the worst possible scenario to bet a boxing side, if you believe it is going the distance.

Thanks Val!

p.s. For those who do not know Val, he is one of the sharpest boxing guys around. To say that he knows his stuff is a vast understatement! His record speaks for itself.

Haha when someone says something good about someone it's a jinx to often :lolBIG: I mostly specialize in smaller stuff in all honesty though. I don't typically bet a lot of the bigger fights but in this case I think the line is off.

BTW- Taylor has a good jab but a lot of people are overrating it. Watch where he brings it back to after he jabs someone. Hopkins is going to time his jab and land his sneaky right hand over it. Taylor won;t win this fight on the strength of his jab IMO. I think Taylor needs to win on power punching. he is not going to outbox Hopkins, Hopkins is way to versatile for that. Taylor's best chance is pressure, pressure, pressure and hope to land something big. Then again Hopkins has never been knocked out.
