Mo Vaughn age 28 season 44HR 143 RBI AVG.326

Big Papi age 28 season 41HR 139 RBI AVG .301

Very similar big thumpers, Big Papi obviously has etched his name in Red Sox folklore with his post season dramatics and overall popularity in Boston...

Before leaving Boston Big Mo was a terror at the dish as well....

Big Papi or Mo Vaughn ?

Based on my recollection, I would take Ortiz. I think Vaughn struck out or hit into more double plays in clutch situations than Ortiz. Ortiz had more productive outs (advance the runner, etc) than Vaughn.

I totally expect 90% of Red Sox faithful to pick Papi...especially the way Mo's career fizzled....Vaughn put up monster year after monster year in Boston however....

But with one extra inning homer over the Green Monster in last years ALCS game 4, Big Papi became a name alongside , Williams, Yaz, Clemens , Pedro, and Manny ..one swing that changed baseball history...the Sox were off end running.

I think Vaughn's contract come off the books last year by the Mets but not 100% sure, i'd go with Ortiz too manily because the guy is deadly with men on base and 2 outs. Plus he has a ring and Mo doesn't

About Vaughn's contract since it was bugging me after the 1998 season he signed that 6 year 72 million dollar deal with Anaheim so his contract did in fact come off the books last year.

Ortiz is so clutch...............for that reason will go with him.

Overall though, MO was probably a better hitter.

George Scott was a good player...but not a huge numbers guy....not comparable really.

I always thought Scott was cool , he wore his helmet in the field , seemed cool back then, and he wore those unique necklaces .

Ortiz is one of the most incredible clutch hitters of our time. Mo Vaughn followed the Jim Rice tradition of the 6-4-3 way too often.

I am not a baseball fan at all because baseball or any type of sport is too violent for me. I only like music, dancing, and little boys... However, you cannot tell Ortiz, Mo Vaughn or George Scott apart because they all look alike.. They are the reason why i had all those surgeries and became white, or i would have been black as them, and I didn't want to end up looking like them..

Now tell me they don't all look alike these 3 guys??????

Funny you say that MJ...The idea popped in my head because Big Papi and Mo did remind me of each other physically...

Big Papi reminds me of Willie Stargell more than anyone with his bat speed, and the ball jumps off his bat, similar to Willie Stargell

Vaughn one of the most overated R/Sox of all time.

Ortiz is the best clutch R/Sox hitter of all time easily.
