Did anyone see that call on the 3-0 pitch to Williams?
men on 1st and 2nd, Clement has walked them both, no outs, and 3-0 on Bernie Williams, and Clement throws a low splitter that Veritek almost pins against the ground, and the ump calls it a strike......
I know they refer to the 3-0 pitch as the "automatic" becasue if its close its usually called a strike.....but when a pitcher is struggling like that, they rarely get the call on a close pitch, but this wasnt close.......amazing a pitch like that could have a "big impact" on the game, as it would have been bases loaded with -0- outs, instead, he comes back to strike out Williams, and change the whole complex of the game...
This is a case where if baseball had an instant replay, Torre would have used one of his challenges on that one...
