A game that really stand out to me today is taking ST. LOUIS -145 CARPENTER VS CLEMENS. It is Jim Edmonds Day in STL today so there will be a sold out crowd there to get their Edmonds figurines of his game saving catch in Game 7 vs Stros in ly's NLCS. Many will like Clemens getting the plus number but that would be a big mistake. Carpenter is last 5 games have given up 0,0,1,0,and 1 for a total of 2 runs of which both were home runs late. The heat index will be above 110 so expect neither starting pitcher to past 7 innings. Balls will fly out today if either get the ball up. Astros have been horrible on the road and emotionally spent as well as they have given every thing they had last 2 days only to lose. I like more runs to be scored than many think as Cards will win this one somewhere along the lines of 7-3. Best of luck!

Kojak, then why has the total dropped from 7.5 to 6.5 in some places. Kinda find it very odd for a total to drop a full run overnight. Again good luck. I will probably just pass.

Shale,

I am not a big believer in the way a line moves for personal reasons as many times it goes the opposite way. All I can tell you is that being from STL and knowing how well ball travels during heat combined with day games, and fact that both games in this series so far have been defensive low scoring games, hitters will wake up in this one. LOL>

Adding play on over 6.5 runs. I will be playing both of these games today. For those that know me I rarely play baseball so that is how I feel on this game today. Best of luck.

Good stats supporting over in this one. Last outing vs Cards, Clemens pitched 5 innings, 9 hits, 4 earned runs. Carpenter also gave up 3 earned runs in last outing vs Houston in I believe 6 innings pitched. Both bullpens are taxed out from first 2 games of series so there are some tired arms down there as well. This game is going to fly over.

RE:Kojak?

Nice write-up.....but I was looking at the under in this game as with all of the Cardinals Injuries?

There are walking wounded and just plain wounded on the Cardinals' roster, which played a couple of men short Saturday.

Center fielder Jim Edmonds was in the lineup despite being wrapped like a mummy before the game, having injured his back, ribs, shoulders and ankle in a collision with left fielder Reggie Sanders on Friday night.

But Sanders, who suffered a left rib contusion and sprained right ankle, was not in Saturday's lineup, nor will he be in Sunday's. And catcher Yadier Molina, who suffered a small non-displaced fracture in his left hand when hit by a pitch a week ago Thursday, belatedly will be placed on the disabled list Sunday.

With the ability to backdate the disablement 10 days, Molina would be able to play next weekend against the Chicago Cubs, but until then, manager Tony La Russa needs another able-bodied player, who will be utilityman Hector Luna, sent to Memphis 10 days ago.

Molina, his hand still swollen, gazed dejectedly at it, had an ice bag affixed to it and then went into La Russa's office before Saturday's game to tell him he still was having trouble. La Russa earlier had projected that Molina might be able to play Sunday.

But, offered Molina: "It's getting worse. I want to be there with my teammates. But it's still tender. I can't do anything."

Molina said that meant he couldn't catch or hit. "Pinch run?" he said, repeating a question. "Yeah, right."

Trainer Barry Weinberg said: "It's just going to need a little more time (for him) to become comfortable. When the swelling goes down, it exposes the point of injury a little bit more. And that's where he is right now."

La Russa, who, in effect, managed with 23 players Saturday, indicated a decision on Sanders might be delayed a couple of days, which dovetailed with Sanders' thinking. Sanders said the swelling had gone down in his ankle, but his rib-cage area was still sore.

"I hope it's not" disabling, he said. "It was worse yesterday. Today, it felt a lot better."

Weinberg said Sanders was a "little better" on Saturday.

Beachbum,

I don't disagree with injury view but wanted to note the Cards offense had been best this year with players like Mabry,Nunez, and Taguchi playing when Rolen,Walker, and Edmonds were beat up. With Clemens pitching, Mabry and Nunez may have been in lineup anyway with their lh bats. We may lose something defensively but not offensively this year with bench players in the lineup. Fact is Larussa plays these guys a lot for these situations when players get hurt and they have produced. With that said, still like over in this one as well as Cards. Best of luck.
