I am ice cold the last month. I mean every sportsbook and their momma should be offering me a 125% bonus to play. I cant pick a winner to save my life.

:sad3:

I am playing in a poker tourney now and we are down to 32 players out of 463. I am #7. The #1 guy crippled me about an hour ago with a horrific bad beat to me 3 on the river to make a suck out straight :finger: after I had him dead to rights with a good raise.

I was virtually dead after that, yet I somehow have survived and now prospered. Looking to get to the final table and administer some payback!!!!:toast:

As for the sports betting, just kill me.

Such is the life a tourny player Smith...wins and even board finishes can be few and very far between. i believe i read where Hellmuth went like 4 years without a win , Brunson over a year just recently....i know myself i was playing 2-5 a day and going a month with no wins equaled well over 100....in fact the depression brought on by the losing streak was/is causing serious problems in my life..ive had to go back to playing the lowest of the low buy-in tournys just to keep my sanity. in the last few weeks ive managed to win a few of those and come very close in a few others but its only a slight help.....what you have to keep in mind is that 1 win in these poker tournys can bankroll you for quite sometime...in some cases 1st place pays hundreds if not thousands to 1 on your money....for instance the winner of the 500,000 guaranteed at poker stars last week got 137,000 dollars...that tourny can be entered on a $3 buy in sattelite....i was just moaning on my keeping a tab thread in the poker forum about going 9 weeks without qualifyling...its killer....but the last time i made it i won $3,800....so im still ahead of the game.......it just feels horrible!! hang in there, stay under control and just play your game.....that next win is right around the corner

that was a really strange tournament. we were told ALL tables would be closed. somebody paged the poker manager and he kept saying there was nothing he could do. he also said a few times he thought they would let us finish, so the whole thing was unclear.

for the last 10-15 mins before the shutdown there were about 15 people left. we were told if we dont finish, the whole tourney would be cancelled and we would get NOTHING but our stake refunded! so we played crazy. it was bizarre. the chip leader kept going all in with crap. we all did.

then when the time came, they didnt shut us down. it became apparent with about 5 players left we could go back to playing normal. I ended up with a huge chip lead with three players left, but I couldnt seal the deal, ended up taking a long time between the 3 of us and I finished third.

went all in with 4,4 with a flop of 2, 8,9. Next guy called with j, 10 and hit a 7 on the turn. I was kicking myself, I think the crazy speed poker we played to try and end the tourney was still in my blood. I did make a nice read I think that my 4's were good but he had a lot of outs.

what were the odds of me winning this hand? lets see any 10, J, 7 or Q was a winner for him. Although a j or 10 and then a 4 would be a winner for me. Was I a small favorite with this all in? I think all 3 players had about 100K in chips at this point.

its not the poker thatd killing me, I hardly play. its sportsbetting.

propokerplayer,

do you play a lot of poker tourneys to make a living? it seems like they might be easier than cash games cause the players get looser with the calls since its monopoly money, but like you said, the streaks are murder.....

dante,

it was just a $1000 freeroll. 3rd paid $85. I entered on a lark after drinking too many beers watching the red sox on TV. ended up staying up late cause I was doing so well. I will never enter a late night freeroll again. not worth it. its going to be hell at work all day on me. Im tired and hung over

gotta go to a meeting :howdy:

Mr. Smith, I can identify with you about the late tourneys not being worth it. I opened an account with powerplayer 3 days ago, and on Sunday night at 11 p.m. I entered a $10 NL Hold'em tourney with 200 entrants. By 2:30 am I made the final table. I was so tired that I was prepared to rashly go all in so I could go to bed, but didn't do this because I was chip leader most of the tourney. By 3:00 a.m., I won the tourney, $591. In hindsight, it wasn't worth it. I was a red-eyed bag of crap at work yesterday.

And thanks to PPP's post, I do not take for granted the fact that I was fortunate enough to win a tourney. It's a rare thing. Although I'm new at online poker, I do realize that it may very well be a long time before I win another tourney, as skill is only part of one's success. You MUST get lucky as well....

I think a good part of the reason I went all in with 4's was cause it was 4 in the damn morning and I had to be up in 3.5 hours for work ( I had fallen asleep for a couple hours around 5 PM though).

I was tired, sick of playing and the last 3 players, we kept going back and forth getting no where. It was getting very old.

I played a little nuts early in the tourney, but instead of being knocked out, I got a big stack. then I got sucked into playing 4 hours, couldnt get away from it, especially once I got to #3 overall with 30 players left or whatever it was.

then I got to #2 and with about 5 left, I was the chip leader. All that stuff and just $85 bones in the end. Would be fine and dandy starting at 7 PM for an entertaining night, not so fun at 4 AM with a date with the alarm clock looming :howdy:

I'm with you 100%. I will NEVER start another tourney past 9 pm on a weeknight. And like you, I was stuck with the final 4 players in the tourney for about 45 mins in the middle of the night without any significant chip changes among us all. In general, an exhausted poker player is a bad poker player.

Dante, any idea if they have those sit n go's at powerplayer? If so, what would be the abbreviated description of such a tourney on the list that they provide?
