O's Get : Burnett From Marlins & Darryl Ward From Pirates

Marlins Get : Julio / Bigbie/ Hayden Penn From O's

Pirates Get : Lowell & Minor leaguer Reed From Marlins

I predict if the Orioles get Ward he becomes the beast he was predicted to be with Houston.

I would love to see that! Keeping fingers crossed, Bedard back and Burnett to go with Cabrerra would give Balto a great top 3!

Would the Bucs then ship Lowell on elsewhere, not really in their nature to take on those big contracts?

Why in the world would anyone but Baltimore do that trade?

Pittsburgh doesn't want Lowell's contract, that's for sure.

Florida should be able to get a lot more than that for Burnett. Why in the hell would they want Julio when they have Mota and Jones.

Where did you get this info?

I agree with that. The Pirates dropped Aramis Ramirez in the Cubs lap because they did not want to pay him when his contract was up.

Ken Rosenthal reported this......I'm in Baltimore for the week and the radio is a buzz with this trade since it broke last night. Apparently it was going to be Lowell going to O's , but the O's naturally didn't want him & his huge contract. So that's how Pitt got involved.

Pittsburgh spends a heck of a lot less and is far more budget conscious than Baltimore...

Redman is involved in this too. He would be going to the Marlins.

if this happens - i'd put it at close to 100% a large part of Lowell's contract will be paid for by someone OTHER than the Pirates and the amount they will have to pay him will be chump change - even for them
