Just read in today's paper that the Heat have interest in signing Marco Jaric. I have always thought very highly of his game. However, you have obviously seen him play much more that I have. What is your opinion on Jaric and what are his strengths and weaknesses? Thanks

He is awesome...I really mean that. I don't think the Heat can land him, but we will see. I hear he is really close to signing with Minnesota and the Clippers are even discussing a sign and trade with them. Cleveland also has started courting him pretty heavily.

He is a great defender and can play both 1 and 2. A couple years back when the Clippers drafted him, he was the hottest thing going over in Europe. I believe he was the MVP of the top league over there and led his team to back to back championships.

He has been injured for the Clippers and never really got going. When he played, he was tough for us. He is a good shooter and definitely plays within the system. He doesn't force any shots and can knock down the 3.

He doesn't seem to be a great penetrator, but he still gets guys open looks.

I am still hoping we match any offer because he is a restricted free agent. He would be HUGE for us because he can play backup PG and SG. We desperately need a backup for Livingston. But I am hearing we will land Bonzi Wells by the end of the weekend. WTF?

It will be interesting to see where Jaric lands. I posted in another thread about him that I think next year, no matter where he is playing, will be his break out year.

If I had to pick a team that I think he will play for next year, I would say Minnesota. :toast:

I would be kind of surprised if we landed him as well. His name really came out of nowhere regarding the Heat. I think he would be a great addition to the Heat, but I am not counting on it. Especially since you say he is close to signing withe Minnesota. I have always though highly of him, due to his great size and shooting. Just do not get to see him play enough because of his injuries and because he is out on the West Coast. Hope you guys don't land Bonzi. Nice talent, but a cancer.

I agree 100%. I can't believe we would rather go after him instead of signing Jaric who could play 2 positions for us...both of which we have holes (back up PG an back up SG).

I also hear Cleveland has contacted the Clippers about a sign and trade for Jaric that would include Drew Gooden. Another strange move for the Clippers if it did end up getting serious. We have Brand and Wilcox already.

I hear if Cleveland doesn't sign Jasikevicius this weekend, they will step up their efforts to land Jaric. Jaric will be in Cleveland getting a tour tomorrow.
