"I'm not paid to play those games," Sheffield told a small crowd of five or six reporters in Detroit. "You've got to pay for everything you get from me. Period. I'm not going to go out there and risk injury."

If he doesn't want to play thats fine, but no need to be an ass about it

I remember a buddy of mine telling a story about him. He was forced to contribute to the community because of of some requirement and he decided to go to Columbia Hospital to sign autographs for the kids. You would think, o that's nice of him. No, after he leaves, the asshole sends the hospital a bill to pay him for his "deeds." This guy is up there with Moss and Owens on the lunatic scale.

Its good fodder for when he gets stiffed from the team. He didn't want to answer a reporter asking him if he feels slighted for being left off the team. Instead he comes out upfront and says I ain't playing and avoids that mess.

This tournament could be a good one, but all this crap about Japan not playing and if the stars are going to play is sure making it fizzle out quick. Who wouldn't want to see the best from the US, DR, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela duke it out in the final four. If they all got the best players that would be some great drama. If you ask me that is what they should do, just invite those four teams, especially if Japan doesn't want to play. Or even better, have a team representing Cuba, but all the exiles, just to stick a finger in Fidel's eye. Having 16 teams, with 12 of them having almost no shot of winning it, just makes the thing too big and too long.

He's an Asshole about everything, so yeah I guess.

But his point is correct, the classic shit is a huge mistake.

Two different things, stick with talking up the Cardinals. If you were in Walker's shoe's you be doing the same thing right or wrong and who cares about Sheffield he may have a point about his season starts when he gets paid but I wouldn't consider him to be a top three American OF'er anyway

Stayed up for the game, now I'm not tired. No new rumors, but this Burnett one does seem to have some legs.

We'll see I guess.
