This is the first real series between Cubs and Cards this weekend. Cubs have not won series in STL in like 6 years and if they have it was late Sept/Oct when Cards did not care. I don't know if anyone knows series price but even with Cards injuries, I can't see Cubs winning 2 of 3 this weekend with pitching matchups of :

Fri: Zambrano vs Carpenter
Sat: Williams vs Morris
Sun: Prior vs Suppan

I see Cards winning tonight as they are in Zambrano's head from ly and
Carp has been lights out. Sat is a clear advantage for Cards. Sunday Cubs have advantage but Prior is not pitching lights out. Any thoughts?

Mark (no pun intended) Prior down for the win. If the cubs can win one of the other two they will win the series.

My 2 cents though biased as I think come Sunday, Cards will be going for the sweep. Once again, people are giving Cubs too much credit. They will be close competitive games that once again Cubs fail with bullpen and clutch hitting. Cards win at least 2 but a sweep won't surprise me. Cubs will not win more than one. You can take that to the bank!

Were the Cards "in Zambrano's head from ly" when he beat them at Busch 3-1 this year on April 20? Last year he had one appearance at Bush pitching 7 shutout innings, striking out 12 and allowing 3 hits. In 4 career starts at Bush, Zambrano has allowed 2 runs in 29.1 innings for a 0.61 ERA. If they're in his head, it's working. I wouldn't be surprised to see 4 total runs or fewer allowed in this game.

2-1 Cubs tonight
7-4 Cards Saturday
5-2 Cubs Sunday night

And Prior has a 1.17 ERA at Busch.
Jerome Williams 2.35 lifetime ERA vs. STL

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

I'm going to bet Cubs tonight, just waiting a little for a sweeter line. Maybe it'll push to +170 late.

COMING AROUND: This is the second series of the season between the NL Central rivals. The team's split the first two games. ... The Cardinals shuffled their starters to get Carpenter and Morris lined up for these starts. For motive, look no further than their records: Combined, the duo is 16-4 with a 3.71 ERA against the Cubs. Carpenter is 5-1 with a 3.35 ERA vs. Chicago. ... In the four-game series at Cincinnati this week, the Cubs hit 11 home runs, including four by Ramirez. ... The Cubs are in the middle of a stretch of 34 games in 35 days; the club's only off-day is August 1. ... Derrek Lee, leading the majors in homers and batting average, is seven for 23 in his career against Carpenter, and six for 18 against Morris. ... Against Prior, Albert Pujols has six hits, including three homers, in 14 at-bats. All three homers were solo shots.

I know. And I'm saying I'd rather just bet the ML tonight, and again on Sunday, rather than the series. I suppose if I found a rogue series price I might go that way, but otherwise I think the game ML's have more value.

d2,

Again more biased plays towards the Cubs than reality or factual. If this series was in Chicago, I would lean your way on Cubs for series but not in STL.
