128 pages a day? Pretty ridiculous if you ask me.

Nice write up.

If sports gambling were legal here, you would have tons of these type of papers.

Hell, we have thousands of weekly handicapping newsletters now, most filled with hoopla and propaganda from their owners/writers.

Amen...that is what leads me to believe this paper will be trash. What in the world would they need 128 pages a day for?

Some years back Frank DeFord put out the sports worlds version of USA Today. It was a well done daily sports paper but quickly went under. It wasn't aimed at the betting crowd though so lets see what happens here.
I also don't know what justification 128 pages could serve. He must have a template and just updates it daily. To fill 128 pages he must include every sport known to man and if that's the case I predict he'll soon change to simply cover only those sports that we care about and actually gamble on....Scotty

Being the reading junkie that I am, liked that paper and miss it.

What was the name of it, my memory is fading fast.

Whatever you do, don't get old.

DeFord's paper was called The National, I was sorry to see it fold. However he relied on normal (USA Today type) advertisers to succeed which may not be the case here.

The National did an AWSOME 3-4 part series on The Computer Group. The real story not the bs that some throw out there. I had a copy of the whole thing and damn I can't find it now.....Scotty

Loved DeFord's The National, and just was watching an interview with him on Tim McCarver's Show on FSN..Six Time Writer Of The Year?..Growing up reading or watching his storytelling of players lives and careers was sheer brilliance.

Ditto Horseshoe. I know two of the three original Computer Group and really miss that accurate article. They're not really like they are portrayed in some sloppy articles and their business was a brilliant undertaking.....Scotty
