Three trades supposedly just went down.

Ponson (Balt) to SD for Phil Nevin

Randa (Cinci) to SD for 2 prospects

Rondell White (Det) to Colorado for Matt Holliday

This is going to be a wild trading season!

There's always next year, like in 75, 90-93, 99 &

White has been limited to DH duty with a sore shoulder. This seems like odd timing.

WTF is Colorado doing? Trading a young player with a cheap salary for an injured vet with a big contract.

Did someone fail to mention to them that they are not exactly in the playoff race?

Nevin for Ponson , both underachievers..Balto can't be done, they need pitching!

Agree....having Nevin on this team makes as much sense as having Lowell. Actually I'd rather have Lowell. At least you don't get a head case.

It is simply insane unless and I assume to be the case thay they have something else worked out to deal him.

All these trades smell of the beginning of more.

What about Minnesota needing a 3B .... Boston and Florida relief,,,etc.

Is white signed through next year? Maybe they are just clearing cap space. Holliday doesn't impress me much.

I think the Padres make a nice move here. Nevin just isn't quite what they hoped and they cut their losses. They defintely need another veteran starter to at least get to October. Randa will do just fine taking Nevins spot. If Ponson can find himself being back in the NL this move might work out.

I don't want Nevin, I would rather keep Ponson, atleast he is a workhorse who can pitch some innings ...Nevin is horrible ...

Ponson in SD gives them another solid starter ... IMHO a well positioned move for the playoff race :103631605

Since your in LV maybe you can answer this ... pre-season what were the Nationals to win their div and what are they now? (odds)

The NL West is a joke anyway...85 wins could take it.

another excellent point and question ...what has been the least amount of games won to win a division?

I agree and posted the same thing earlier in the first thread started about that trade.

This also allows them to move Eaton to the bullpen and replace him in the rotation with Ponson if this trade does go through.

Yep...Eaton in the Pen allows for great "emergency" relief and some a few solid middle relief. I wonder what the line moves are and how they are changing becuz of these trades?

Glaken

The 1987 Minnesota Twins (85 wins) .... home / road splits for the regular season were 56-25 (0.691 winning percentage) at home and 29-52 (0.358 winning percentage) away.

29-52 away and they were World Champions...nuts!

Where was this Rondell White to Colorado trade announced at?
I can't see it anywhere and haven't heard anything locally about it.

That one makes no sense whatsoever to me...
