The HEAT INDEX is high in many parts of the country today.

BUSCH Stadium is going to be one large sauna.

That was the game in particular I was looking at for some kind of edge.

My thinking is PRIOR will be able to handle the heat better than SUPPAN.

Anyway, just brainstorming this factor.

Appreciate some of your posters thoughts on this.

Thanks,

but the fact the game is starting @ 7P (Stl time) should help make it a tad more tolerable on the field since the game won't be played in scorching temps and sunlight

Just because its night here, doesnt mean its ridiculously hot. Im in St. Louis still, and last night, seemed just as disgusting as daytime. 100 V 90 degree temps, its all hot to me.

Seems to me many of these extreme heat/humidity games played anywhere other than the state of Texas seem to go Under, anyone else notice that or notice any different? I think maybe the pitcher concentrates more, works more quickly, and the fielders want to stay out of long innings. I'm interested in what others think about Unders in hot/humid weather.

I would think it won't be nearly as hot at Bushc at night as during the day. Prior is a San Diego and USC product so he should be accustomed to the heat. That said, it was hot in his last start in Cincy and though he gutted thru 3 runs in 6.2 innings he didn't have his good curveball and he attributed not being able to get a handle on the curve to the heat.

My general thinking is that it should help the over as the pitchers and fielders labor the longest in the heat. The batters often come from sitting in the dugout cooling off a bit. The pitchers can labor out there and have trouble getting a feel for the ball, esp the curve.

I would think if you bets overs today you would need to rethink the heat angle.
Overs 2-9-1 with two solid unders in progress, one game left. Most likely outcome, 2-12-1. 3-11-1 if Cards gets to 9. Brutal.

Best Wishes...OF:howdy:

Mr Frog,

You are counting dome games and other areas of the country where heat was not a facotr. The heat wave is only in certain portions of the country, so not really fair to count the whole board and say the heat factor was disasterous. Granted, it was a tough day for overs, including those games in extreme heat, but not enough info by looking at just one day to abandon a over/heat strategy. Historically, more runs are scored when it's hot and humid, but whether or not that advantage is enough to offset the juice is debateable.
