MLB hot lines: Tuesday`s best bets
Ryan Stetson

Texas at Baltimore- under 9 ½ runs
Kenny Rogers is still strolling out to the hill every fifth day? Ridiculous.
Though you can’t blame the Rangers. I’d ride him for as long as his 41-year-old left arm can take it, or until Bud Selig gets his act together and sits him down for four or five starts. Let’s just get over this.
He’s supposed to take the ball tonight and if he does, I’m thinking he’ll turn out another solid start like he’s been doing this year.
Same goes for Baltimore’s guy tonight, Rodrigo Lopez. He’s had just one bad outing in his last nine games. The righty chucked a solid 7 2/3 innings allowing just two runs in his last start, but ended up taking a no-decision in a 3-2 loss to the Twins at +103. He’ll be looking to push his win total into double digits tonight.
Neither team has been hitting well lately, either. Might have to wait until Wednesday for the bats to wake up.

New York Mets at Colorado- under 12 ½ runs
There’s probably going to be some crooked numbers on the board today, but seeing them add up to 13 seems like a stretch.
Jeff Francis has been getting hammered lately and you never know what you’re going to get with Kazuhisa Ishii. But Ishii threw six scoreless innings the last time he took the ball and Francis has always been more comfortable at Coors than he is on the road.
The two clubs have played under similar totals in four of their last five meetings.

Cincinnati at Los Angeles- over 8 runs
What’s up with Eric Milton? The guy’s allowed a league-high 30 dingers on his way to a 4-10 mark and a 7.09 ERA this season.
Last year he had a 4.75 ERA and was 14-6, marking the fourth time that he booked at least 13 wins since breaking into the league in 1998. He’s probably never going to be an overpowering pitcher with a sub-3.00 ERA, but nobody saw a slide like this coming.
Meanwhile, Odalis Perez takes the hill for the Dodgers on the heels of a seven-inning, seven-strikeout shutout in Philly at +137. Not sure if you’ll see numbers like those tonight. I’ll stick with the over.

Detroit at Seattle- Detroit at (+100)
Tigers manager Allan Trammell told the press yesterday he thinks his club “has a shot” at the wild card. So do I, but we’re talking a trey from the corner of the parking lot sort of shot.
You never know, though. They’re only going to get healthier. Placido Polanco is supposed to be back sometime this week and the lineup is showing signs of coming together, which is exactly what team management is hoping for.
It doesn’t sound like Detroit’s going to be very busy at the trade deadline, so that will help everyone in the Tigers camp sleep a little easier.
"I feel good about our guys, and I`d like to go out with our full cast and see what we can do," Trammell said. "If we play like we`re capable, we can play with anybody."
If they’re talking playoffs, they have to beat teams like Seattle. Jason Johnson is either awful or amazing, but he’s just coming off a bad start and the club needs him tonight. Plus, the price is nice.
