Ridiculous crap. UTTERLY ridiculous. Tell this joker to go look at how the sports books fared for the Super Bowl. They didn't make any money on it! It was one of the worst results for them outside of the Black Sunday win of Pittsburgh over Dallas. In other words if there indeed was a fix on it, the books f-ed up and had the wrong team win and cover.

Unbelivable. When you write something you often have to defend yourself, but not when it comes to gambling. Write whatever the hell you want and people won't question it as long as you throw enough stupid cliches in there and make it all "wink wink" stuff. Now if I wrote Little League games were fixed in an article I would have tons of people on my ass demanding I prove it or else get my head cut off, even though anyone with an ounce of common sense would realize its infinitely easier to alter the results of a little league game. Just the way of the world I suppose.

You have to be kidding. The 49ers were so fucking dominant that year it was ridiculous. A fix was not necessary and that is why the line was 17 if I recall, I believe the highest line on a superbowl ever...in fact I don't recall many games with a line that high period.

But just like the urban legend about the '95 Super Bowl -- according to myth, a phone call was made to ensure a San Diego loss because a win (because of Vegas odds, the national betting line and shady casino involvement) possibly would end the existence of the MGM Grand, Mirage and Hilton hotels..........

Anyone hear this before?

The only funny thing going on in that game was towards the end when SD was trying to score a "meaningless" td to blow the SF cover...they were unable and lost by 25 i think it was. SF was -19 I recall

I was working in SF at the time. One of my buddies had a local with the line at -20. My buddy bet SD and he bookie said it was only the second ticket all day he wrote on SD. Later my buddy called in to bet the total and the number was 20.5. That local must have gotten killed that day.
