I think it asks you to register after your second visit to the website....
If it does here is the jist:

"Manny was going to have a day off in Chicago the other day, we talked him out of it, at the time I said 'to me Wednesday would be a better day.' And then after last night's game we did go to him and say 'Hey look, we're in a little bit of a bind now' and he goes 'I still need it.' So we're gonna sit Manny so he'll have tonight and tomorrow..."

Manny Ramirez is a total idiot. Your teammate gets his head cracked open and your manager has asked you to play and you still decline. I have lost all respect for this moron.

I think Manny just wants to play and have fun. He does not have a passion for the game. That's why he does things like this.

He also has 28 bombs and 92 RBI's and we aren't even in August yet.
His numbers compare favorable with the All-Time greats of the game.

Would I like him to play hard all the time and play hurt once in a while? Yes. But would I rather have him in the middle of my line-up over all but a few guys? Damn straight.

ManRam has been crap with bases loaded this year and lefties have been eating him alive. Last time I checked he was batting under .200 against lefties and he's supposed to be a premier righty? I can name five other players that I would rather right now than Manny:

Albert Pujols
Derek Lee
Arod
Sheffield
Aramis Ramirez

TOTALLY Agree. I have been saying for months how overrated "Manram" is. He has been burning a hole in my pocket in clutch situations all year. He is the master of the one-out, bases loaded, ground into double play.

You guys are nuts and including a few guys that haven't put up close to Manny's numbers the past few years. Lee this year, but he's not the sure thing Manny is year in and out.

I'd say A-Rod, Pujols and Vlad are right with him, but that's about it.

Crap with the bases loaded? he has 3 slams this year and 19 in his career.

A sure sign of GREATNESS and/or JEOLOUSY:

Its July 28th and your a player sitting with 28 HR and 92 RBI(5 more than anybody else in baseball), a lifetime .314 hitter, on pace to break the all-time RBI record, is 2nd all-time in grand slams at the tender age of 34............ and individuals are talking crap about you.

Not to mention this same person is the most recent World Series MVP in baseball.

I was creaming in my pants when he was available hoping the Red Sox would sign him. He is just a natural studly guy without the need for steroids. People have to lay off of Manny in my opinion. It's obvious that it's not just a language barrier but he does in fact have some kind of mental problem. I wish Red Sox fans would go easy on him because it reflects poorly on the town to bash one of our own. Other players see it and it creates a negative environment. Lets not make a big deal of it and it won't be a big deal. The media keeps grasping for negative things all the time. Is he more of a target becasue of his salary? Who gives a shit if he went into the wall and was late coming out.I got a little ticked off that management wanted to make things more serious after winning for the first time in so long. For what? What are we a police state where everyone has to conform to strict rules on how to act?

The guy definitely has hall of fame numbers and would be a shoe in if not for his attitude. I guess some of us are frustrated with his recent performance especially in both of the Devil Ray series. Those who had money on these games know where I'm coming from. I guess this recent incident of not playing just broke the iceberg for me.

Sick of hearing about this "attitude" thing with manny also.

Manny brings a GREAT attiutde to the team.........always cheering for his teammates and giving them kudos after a great play.

As a Red Sox fan, I am DELIGHTED to have Manny on the Bosox ballclub.............as much as ANYBODY ever in my loooooooong history of being a Bosox fan.

Can guarantee that I am not alone in feeling this way.

Manny is a great hitter, he loves his teammates and his teammates love him which what matters. What he doesnt like is everything else around baseball (media, fans, etc) however I still don't feel for the guy cause if he wanted privacy maybe signing in Boston wasn't the smartest thing all things considered.

I still remember Boone's shot against Wakefield; I will never forget it. At that moment, I just thought about how long it would be before the Red Sox got back on the field. But spring training came and went, and of course, not only is the 2004 baseball season in full gear, but we've already taken the first series against the Yankees. Like most fans, I focus on how my team is doing, what's happening on the field. So for a change, I had the pleasure to sit with Manny and asked him about his off-season.

You may have heard about Manny's hard work during the season, at times getting to the ball park 3 hours before the team to work on his hitting. But most don't know how intensely he works during the off-season.

As Manny explained, "Baseball is not easy. If you're not in shape, you can't be ready to do a good job... If you don't get to spring training in shape, you have more chance to injure your muscles."

news-2.jpg
Manny began training 10 days after the end of the season; that was his vacation. "I train with a personal trainer at the Institute of Human Performance, in Boca Raton, Florida. The gym is about 1 hour from my house... I start my workout at 7:00 AM. That means I have to be up at 5:30 AM. I only have chance for a protein shake at that time." The sessions last until 9:00 AM, and then he eats breakfast.

Manny works very hard, pushing his body to new limits. When asked why, he laughed and said "The competition is too strong, and every year we get older... If you want to keep playing at a high level, you have to work hard."

As one listens to Manny talk about baseball and how he strives to become a better player, one comprehends baseball is his life. He simply loves the game. "When I was small, I felt happy when I got to the park. You will not believe it, but the same thing still happens to me. Every time I'm putting on my uniform I get excited.. But even during the season I work out early before the games." The work never stops for Manny.

Another dimension of his physical preparation is his diet. He has to eat properly for the training to take proper effect. "If you don't eat right, your muscles will not get stronger, and you will be very tired the next day... I love to eat, so when I eat more than what I'm supposed to, I work overtime to burn the extra calories. But I usually control myself," explained Manny.

The season is in full swing. The Red Sox are doing well. The pitching is looking good. The hitting is on target, and yes, we took the first round against the Yankees. Manny is hitting the ball hard and his average is 362, after 14 games. He's an outstanding player, whom we've gotten used to seeing excel as a hitter. Now I know, he does a lot behind the scenes to achieve his best performance at the plate and on the field.

May God bless him always and may he have another outstanding year.

It doesn't take much of a fitness expert (like myself) to see Manny is a beast underneath that baggy uniform...very clear to this observer Manny is a very strong man, who obvious works very hard at it....

I'm with Fish. Screw the other shit, I Love Manny and want the Sox to keep him. He is a great Hitter. The other stuff is part of the Package, and he'll play 150 games this year so Sox just need to put up with it.

Do you guys work at a place were everyone is treated equal? High producer's get more leeway in every field.
