I need a job. For the last 2 years or so, I have been playing poker for a living, but Im very burnt out on it. Ive made my money from it, and am looking to move to Vegas, but I want to be setup with a job before I pickup and move everything. I have an Assoc. degree in IT-Computer Network Systems, and am continuing my edu, although I might switch my major from IT to finance or marketing. Do you guys have any suggestions on what to do? How to get a job, before I move? I have enough money to float myself for a year or two, but I think if I dont have a "real" job before I go out, Ill get into a bad pattern of being a bum, and never find a job. Anyone have a busineess and looking for help? Im a hustler, in that if things need to be done, Ill get them done. I also know a little bit about everything from the restaurant biz to gambling.

Very few employers will hire you from out of town. So many new residents and so much coming and going makes this a pretty standard policy. Get to town first and get established. Little things like getting licensed here and having a local number improve your odds. Lots of IT work here but it pays pretty poor I hear compared to other markets.

High paying jobs in this town are carrying luggage to rooms, opening car doors, dealing BJ. I get a big kick on how bartenders are looked up to in this town. To get these jobs, you have to know someone. If you are doing well as a poker player, come on down. Plenty of minnows here to be eaten by sharks at the poker tables.

I saw a TV show where they were talking to a bartender at the Palms pool. Guy has a dream job. The girls out there are hot, many looking to hook up. Guy said he was making like 140K a year too.

What's wrong with playing poker for a living? Doesn't sound like too bad a job to me if you can make a good living doing it.
