The Barleys Casino WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP OF NFL HANDICAPPING.

Players anted up a $1,000 entry fee and picked EVERY game vs. the spread for the entire 17 week season.

Hit 61.1% on the year and took home the $26,000 first place prize beating such legendary handicapping stalwarts such as Ken White, Russ Culver, Tony Salinas, Voodoo(yes, the RX's Voodoo), and a host of others

Defeated Ken White in a sudden death playoff that was one for the ages.

Tied at the end of the regular season, the two of us had to pick the first round of the playoffs as the tie-breaker and low and behold we both went 4-0 and had to head to another playoff round the next week.

This time we both went 2-2 and once again had to head to another week of sudden death.

In the third playoff yours trully went 2-0 to Mr. Whites 1-1 and the championship trophy and prize money was all mine.:):)

To this day, this is the only MAJOR football contest that I have ever entered in Las Vegas.

When I had the Stardust we had a contest:

$2500 entry fee
pick one game a week
one loss & your out
winner takes all + free $25,000 superbowl wager

No fluff in that contest.....Scotty
By the way Jim Fiest won the first year.

Remember that Scotty.......great contest!

Here was another one of my all-time favorites........

Poster Hawkeye171 ran the HAWKEYE171 BOWL POOL from 1975-1997 and drew around 50 contestants on average.

Without getting into the specifics of the contest, one had to pick the score of EVERY bowl game.

In January of 1987 had a terriffic run in the New Years Day Bowl games and broke my maiden in claiming my first HAWKEYE171 BOWL POOL win.

I've been in a lot of them, I've won my share.

The two most I enjoyed though was the one general and journeyman ran last summer it was for the bash. there was a quiz you had to take to get in, then it unfolded into a baseball contest. that was really fun. gameface and dante were in it.

then the bcn sports one we just had in the NBA. that was just 13 intense days. you could throw up 1,2 or 3 unit bombs at anytime no lead was safe until the last day

I like the shorter contests those are more fun to me. I played in the carib contest when first place was 40k or so, and I just couldnt hack beating my brains in to cap NFL 5 good plays for 17 weeks.

Although I did beat a field of 100 in a season long CFB contest once.
