I just spent a week in Vegas doing nothing but playing poker. I don't usually play a lot of online poker, but I've been playing all day today. It just seems that the hands are inflated. Believe me, I saw a million hands in Vegas, and a good hand held up much of the time. From my experiences, you need to have a monster hand to win a pot online. AK raise before the flop and a K comes on the flop, you are in trouble. I know I can't prove this, but I'm sure questioning it.

Ill...I have felt this way at times to...lots more suckouts happen ONLINE then live and I think that is due to many reasons but ONE is the "CASH" is not right in front of the person. its just a readout of your balance so they will call a 20$ bet on a gut shot straight more often then if they have to actually throw 20$ in chips into a pot....

You're also playing a lot more hands at a quicker pace online. I'm so terrible at online and live poker that I just call playing poker "donation time".

I don't know, bro. The players in Vegas are the worst I've ever seen, and they call everything. And a solid hand usually holds up out there.

Online poker is probably less of an opportunity to win $$ than a slot machine.

At least most Slots are regulated.

Illini,

Your topic says, "I'm starting to question online poker" My question to you is, are you a dope, that may sound sharp but I see you posting great threads in College and many taking on board what you say. Why would you or anyone else who assume to be informative in other categories be so foolish to think that online poker is no more than a mugs game. Stay off the poker joke and keep up the good work in college.:103631605

I'd watch your step with that one Illini. Of course a lower limit game at any strip poker room will have plenty of fish looking to have a good time & just gamble.

Plenty of local sharks abound though that just feast off of the tourists

I don't play a lot online, but have been told that it's legit by a lot of people. I know Matt24 said he's going to make 150K playing strictly online this year. I guess I don't want to believe that the sites are so greedy that guaranteed rake isn't good enough for them. I still fail to see their motivation, if they are indeed inflating hands. But my experiences online, compared with the number of hours of live play tell me that it's not quite legit. I want to see what everyone else says. I know that Matt24 really believes in it.

i believe it is rigged at certain casinos. i had a lot of success at pacific poker last year and this year. played at bodog and saw exactly what you are talking about. guys going all in with a small pair and hitting trips or with an inside straight draw at hitting it on the river.

i will never play at bodog again.

Watch my step? The sharks are not playing 3,6 games. Not where I have played anyway.

I'm sure you'll do well out there Illini, just play your game.

But saying the players in Vegas are the worst you've ever seen from just playing at the 3/6 tables for a week is a little overboard

I played pretty consistently for 3 years at the Orleans, Palms, Stardust, Mirage, and Bellagio. Got to see alot of the same faces around town and some excellent poker players

I still fail to see their motivation,

Illini, you starting to lose any credence with comments like that, forget online poker, its a mugs game. People on here say they bet this, win that, all bollocks, this Forum is an outlet for habitual losing punters, some who have never won a cent in their lives. It is also a site of Glory, say this win, say that win, 80% of the posters on here are Jokers when they post, are you one of them?

I hear what you are saying. I'm just saying at the tourist low level places, it's free money if you grind. I'm not a poker pro by any means, but it's not hard to be the best player at the table every time, especially if you play at the Stardust.

I don't appreciate you accusing me of being a joker, but I'll forgive you. I think my question is a fair question. If you owned a poker site that had guaranteed rake on every hand, why would you fuck with it, just to make more? Maybe Blue Edwards is right, that man is inherently evil.

I don't know Matt24, but he says 150K a year. I would like to believe him. But if my experience continues like it has today, I will give up online poker. Does that satisfy you?

If your playing at the Dust say hi to Rick Reinhart & Dan Garcia at the sportsbook for me. Both great guys; ask for a few drink tickets and a buffet and to put it on Beege's comp # :103631605

Some cool dealers at the Stardust. It rained on Sunday morning though, and the ceiling started to cave in. The place needs to be torn down, but it's got character.

I firmly believe that most sites have the ability to rig games...but which games and for what purpose i think varies greatly. ill give a few examples without naming names.

1 site i believe rigs tournys and large rig games to ensure their own players (pd by or working for the book) win the top spots and big hands...why? you look at say a 2500 tourny...60% or more of the prize money is won by the first 3-4 finishers..the rest is chump change

another site i believe rigs sattelite tournys to ensure their team players get in the big money tournys on the backs of the little guys...they can be beat but i believe they give their players a huge advantage.

another site just out and out cheats....they lie about how much they give away, they lie about the size of their tournys and when they do have a big money tourny it is always won by players no one has ever heard of...i know for a fact they will stick "their" players at tables where the other 9 players are not even there....they have even added hundreds of players to tournys at the last hour when the turnout was so low it was going to be easy pickings...

most all sites have players there that are paid to play, some fairly....some not. bad beats and losing streaks are 1 thing but cheating at anything is unacceptacle..and if they cheat anytime how can you know when they are doing it and when they are not? most new players would do well to play for fun only...they are just guinea pigs not only for good players but for the sites themselves...

i play everday on all the sites i think are rigging games, ive been doing it long enough to know what to stay away from....yet i still try to beat them sometimes at their own game...ive found ways to stay ahead of the game but most rookie players will not...
