i have just purchased a 19 inch lcd monitor to add to my laptop.

i have installed it and it shows the same screen saver my laptop does.

i can drag poker tables over to it , i can drag icons over to it .

but i cant get anything to open on that screen .

i drag the explorer icon over there and click to open it and it opens on my laptop screen.

what have i done wrong so i cant get 2 different sites open on 2 different screens ?

thanks .

What kind of dual monitor card do you have? It really varies by the brand (and it's always a little trickier when dealing with laptops).

WNO, it really varies by the brand of card. Go into settings\control panel, and double click on "Display". Somewhere in that window, it should tell the brand of video card.

can you post the make of the laptop and the model?

if its a laptop it should be "ready" to go (most of the times) , you have to plug the monitor , boot it and then play a bit with the settings of the display

it works ok..

but i cant have explorer up on both screens .

i just multi-tabled 3 tables at pokerstars with no problem. just moved the tables across the screen to the new monitor.

its when i want to have 2 internet windows open on both or have icons on the new one that will open on that monitor.

the laptop is a gateway 400 notebook. running windows xp

WNO, if you one a 2nd IE Window, you just have to move it over to the other monitor. If you can't move it, click on the center box in the very upper right(next to the X). Then you should be able to move it

IE wont move to other monitor. The icon will and when i click to open it , it opens on the laptop screen.

I F'd something up during the install i guess...

I'll figure it out.

perhaps you could try to install firefox and see if that browser does the same thing, I find it odd that you can move windows of other programs and not IE

You can usually scroll through screens by pressing ctr alt f1-f8 until you find what you need on the monitor.

after monkeying around for awhile , i finally got IE to open up on the big screen.

a good friend of mine called and talked me thru some of the same stuff you guys mentioned.

i want to thank all the guys who took time out to answer my questions and try and help me.

i think i got it now...

2 hours of multi-tabling at pokerstars in sit and go's has paid for about 1/2 the monitor so far...
