Blame the lame steroid testing policy...so many things out there and so little being tested for...

Its good to see MLB isn't afraid to say who is caught...that is a plus....not even a 3000/500 guy is above the testing...

When I watched the Congressional hearings earlier this year, I know that Mcgwire got a lot of slack for taking the 5th, which obviously strongly suggests he was taking them. What was worse for me was Sosa/Palmiero etc. flat out lying. What has Sammy done since the hearings or this Balco issue for that matter became a top story. Both of these guys and others flat out lied. At least Mcgwire did not do that to Congress! He deserves what ever he gets in this case. I also read in the paper today that Palmiero hit a total of like 70 hr's prior to Canseco going to Texas and all the rest after. Canseco in his book says he often injected Gonzalez,Rodriguez, and Palmiero for months until they got more comfortable with the needle. Makes sense considering all of Gonzo, and Irod's injuries/breakdowns and now Palmiero's positive test and suspected tough steroid that is not in supplements.

What cracked me up is the excuses that were being made by not only Palmeiro but ESPN baseball analysts. "I never knowingly took steroids" was what Palmeiro said after testing positive. "Maybe a teammate slipped him something" was what Harold Reynolds said. Rick Sutciffe had the funniest line, "maybe he drank a tainted milkshake". I wonder what they will say now?

It's not the ten games that is the punishment. It's the shame. He has ruined his hall of fame career. MLB could of Pete Rose'd him and it wouldn't compare to having his name (deservely) dragged thru the mud on every message board and sports talk show.

Is it suppose to be a 10 game suspension for first offense? I thought it was more than that???

I know nothing because I would have thought for sure that it was going to be MUCH worse than that.

He is actually suspended for 10 days not 10 games. Its a slap on the wrist compared to what the IOC penalty is for testing positive. 1st offense-2 years, 2nd offense-lifetime ban.
