After the events of the last two days concerning Rafeal Palmeiro and Ryan Franklin, I've obviously got more repect for Frankin, who was more willing to answer questions during his conference call. Add to the fact that Palmeiro had a "potent" steroid in his system, this was no "mistake". How foolish can get this guy be after going before Congress and professing his innocence.
Who else feels as though they owe Jose Canseco an apology??
In the NL and AL Wild Card standings, looks like the Astros and A's are the cream rising to the top of those two races. Amazing these turnarounds after how badly these two looked in May. Yanks are currently on the outside looking in, with Boston getting hot again after the Manny "I want a trade' stuff has blown over. Last night, Al Leiter looked like the old Al Leiter the Marlins released a few weeks back. Don't expect Nomo to look any better for George's boys, even if he does make it up from the minors.
With the Pads clinging to the NL West lead, Jake Peavy goes out last night and shows why he's one of the best pitchers in the league.
Since June 1st, the Pads have the worst record in baseball. Can they turn things around, and more importantly, can the D Backs and/or Dodgers put enough together to overtake them?? I say the Pads play "well enough" to win the West with about 84 or 85 wins.
Chris Carpenter outdueled Dontrelle Willis last night in St Louis, while the Rocket shut down the D Backs. Just goes to show that good pitching does beat good hitting when it matters, even in the "juiced player" era.
