ballplayer !

So your saying the Mattingley was a better player than Bonds? I can think of at least 6 active first baseman that are better than him.

LOL- better???? I never said that man....I am listing great players who never won a ring.

BTW- I doubt you could name six...Mattingly was the very best hitter in baseball over a 3 yr period...(85-86-87)

Well if you want to make assumptions, it has been rumored that the mailman has used the juice. I heard that more than once.

How can it be cheating when MLB never had a rule against it? Also, when half the pitchers were taking steriods, the hitters had to take them just to be on a level playing field.

Pitchers have absolutely sucked over the past decade or so...if anything pitching has fallen off....if they're on juice why can't they finish games compared to 20 years ago?

You really think you can name 6 first baseman better than Don Mattingly was?

Mattingly was as good as anyone in his prime for his era.....back in the 80' when 30 homers meant something.

there are a lot of names in hockey - but being a L.A. Kings' fan one comes to mind ASAP - one of the all-time greats of the game, #16 in your scorebook and the center on one of the most lethal lines in NHL history, "The Triple Crown Line" (flanked by Dave Taylor and Charlie Simmer)

Marcel Dionne

In other sports (names not mentioned):

NFL: Barry Sanders
MLB: Don Sutton
NBA: Charles Barkley and John Stockton

Sal- I thought the Hitman was George Hendrick?

I have a great signed photo of Mattingly in a pinstripe suit,

wearin' Capone's hat.

He's holdin' a bat like a machine gun..bullet holes everywhere.

The banner read's "HITMAN".

I know the former A's had the "nick" as well.
