Who's your pick? I'm leaning towards St Louis. I think Mulder and Smoltz will pitch to a standstill. It will be a battle of the bullpens which I believe will favor St Louis.

Atlanta

Personally I would go with the under 8 in this game, but if I had to choose I would go with Atlanta. The St. Louis lineup is pretty banged up with a lot of backups playing right now and Walker and Rolen out. Mulder and Smoltz are going to pitch similar games, and pitch well, so it will come down to the offense and, under the circumstances, I think that Atlanta has the advantage there, especially the way Francoeur is swinging the bat.

Good Luck to you and hope this helped out. :103631605

Cardinals are looking to make a statement in this series similar to Houston series a couple weekends ago. Throw in fact that after this series, Cardinals play 19 of the next 26 games on the road, I expect the A game for the Cards. These home games will be crucial until they get healthy. Cards win 2 out of 3 but I will be calling for the sweep!

I agree with Kojak. Cards have been sharp this season when it comes to a big series.

Don't forget also Atlanta's below .500 road record vs Cards above .600 home record!

The stat that sticks out the most is Atlanta's batting average. Dismal .248 on the road vs. .286 at home.

I like Smoltz in this one. Atlanta would love to put some distance between them and the other fast fading teams in the division so they can sit back and heal a bit. Cards are probably getting bored and wishing october would just hurry up and get here.

These are the stud starting pitchers Cardinals have beaten this year: Clemens,Pettite,Oswalt,Prior,Hudson,Schmidt,Pedro,Pavano,Beckett,Willis,Lowe,O.Perez, Sheets, Capuano ?,Peavy, etc. Probably leaving a few off and some of these guys have been beaten more than once by Cards. Idea is that Cards don't get intimidated by stud sp anymore. In fact, Card offense has been BETTER THIS YEAR statistically without Rolen,Sanders, and Walker. Mabry,Taguchi,Nunez, and rest of bench have really stepped up when they have started so I would not use starters out as an excuse as many of these bench players start more than most teams and would even without injuries as Larussa plays everyone just like Bobby Cox.

I have a 3 team IF bet on:

Cards -108
Cards under 8
Houston -130

Totally agree with Kojak. Cards lineup do not get intimidated by aces. They will find some way to win. I personally hope LaRussa plays J-Rod and Taguchi because they have been doing better than Rolen and Walker.

Starting lineup is posted. J-rod, Taguchi, and Nunez is playing. This is the cards better lineup in my opinion. Sweet.

i think the x factor in this game is the potential late runs that can be scored by stl if they get into the atl bullpen by the 7th inning. keep the game close then exploit the atl bullpen. my money is stl.

Yep. That's what I'm betting on. It will difficult to get some runs on Smoltz 1st 6 innings but if Mulder can equal his counterpart and hold down the fort, Cards will somehow find a way to win in the later innings.

Any more questions need to be answered about how the Cards would play the Braves?

I turned it as soon as they brought in McBride...I had the under....
Once Cards are up 1-6 they bring in the joke relievers....I knew I had no chance....
Guy gets 0-2 and 1-2 counts and gives up walks or hits....Pitiful bullpen is unfortunately common this year....Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad year for totals late in game when it used to be a "lock"
