Well BK Kim had his longest outing ever the other night in SF and a late inning catcher interference on a pitchout kept the Rockies out of the loss column again.Nothing special yesterday.
Detroit -104 (Robertson LHP vs Sabathia LHP)
This is what Im seeing....versus LHP this year:
Overall
Cleveland .241
Detroit .306
Cleveland away .232
Detroit at home .304
L10
Cleveland .235
Detroit .341
The Tigers are 15-9 vs LH starters.
So IMO the Tigers have the upper hand tonight offensively. They face CC who theyve already chased from a game this year (5er ,111 pitches in 4.1 innings) in a 7-3 win.Sabathia road numbers are nothing special (4-3 4.43 era). The Indians have gotten him some runs and prevented more losses.Neither pitcher has performed well recently but Sabathia stats are glaring (0-3 8.81 era and 1.631 whip).Im more impressed with Robertson at home. His era is only 2.50 but his WL record is 1-4 due to lack of support or bad pen work.He rarely gives up HR at Comerica....only 2 of the 13 hes surrendered have come at home..Hes already handled Clevelands lineup once the year although rec. the loss n a 7 inning 1 er effort.Think the Tigers pen is as good as Clevelands (which is pretty good) these days and should be able to score some runs off of CC.So IMO the Tigers have the upper hand on the bump as well.
One other thing I noticed was the fact Cleveland had really struggled in the Division. In 44 division games this year the Tribe is batting .238 and scoring an avg of 3.7 rpg vs division rivals.Meanwhile in 33 division contests for Detroit the Tigers are batting .282 and avg 4.7 rpg.
Tigers have looked better recently, specifically at home.Think they get this one tonight.
