I thought about getting it, but I think I won't this year.

Bad reviews on gamespot.com (8.2) They say no significant improvements from 2005. I will be saving $45.

I wish the game would go back to being less complicated....too many extras, I guess they need to keep creating to sell more games each yr.

I think the game peaked in 2004...2005 was horrible!

This exclusive rights thing has been a nightmare for the diehard NFL VG consumer

I really hate EA now

The really "big" change is "quarterback view". You have to aim your QBs head where he wants to throw it, or it is almost always intercepted. It adds nothing but aggravation (and 6 defensive TDs in one game).

Graphically, the game is cleaner. The running game also "looks" better, and is a bit less predictable. One other new thing are random penalties - defensive holding/interference, which you never got last year, unless you really mugged a guy.

I'm going to buy Madden every year (and twice this year, with 360 coming out) no matter what new features they put in - I just want current teams. But this QB view thing really blows.

I think NCAA and Madden have both hit a wall.
They don't seem to be focused as much on the overall game experience. They just want to put in more gimmicks (i.e., this QB thing, the "hit stick", etc).
I've always thought the game experience was missing something. I think they should focus more on making the commentating better, more comments, less repetition, maybe more stats during game, stuff like that.
I'll probably end up buying Madden this year, but the main reason will be to get the new teams. I don't play online much, as it seems everyone cheats, and the franchise/owner modes get very boring very quickly, imo.

Way too many Int's for Td's...its ridiculous...it was much harder to run in '05 too...you were forced to use the 'extra' buttons, too much ...you need to take a college course just to work the controller and learn all the ins and outs anymore!

Judging by the 20 min preview of Madden '06 which I saw on TV yesterday, it looked like the greatest game ever. The signal calling you hear by the QB's is their actual voices taken from sideline mikes during games last year. Also, the QB can purposely under- or over-throw receivers to avoid coverage.

Of course, these features have little to do with the actual game play, and it sounds like, from some of the above comments, the game play ain't so hot.

Too bad. I was looking forward to getting it, but now I'm not so sure.

For all the people who did not get the chance to play the SEGA series you really missed out. That was the best football game period and EA sports knew it. Thats why they bought the exclusive rights from the NFL because they knew that they could not compete with the NFL2K series on merit alone. Now that they have bought out all the competition im sure the product is going to get even worse. This is a sad day in video game history.

I agree with you 100% . The best football game EVER was last years ESPN 2k5.This is Bullsh*t the way ea sports bought the rights to the players/stadiums.They did that sh*t because they knew the 2k series was a better game(much better game)

I will still be playing espn 2k5 this year, fvck ea sports football:finger:

They have an option where you can take the QB view off and play pre Madden '06 style

XBox 360 comes out in November, and then Madden comes out in December for it. So I'm not wasting $50 now when I'm gonna have to buy a new system AND the same game in a couple months, anyway.

My 10 yr old just bought it (saved some of his birthday party from March).

He likes it so far, but is just doing exhibitions, etc for now. He said 2005 was too easy to beat (average score was like 90-3,even after he let westbrook go to free agency in year 2).
