I'm listening to the Yankee radio broadcast on WABC, and it's pretty nauseating listening to Jon Sterling and Suzyn Waldman do the call of the game. Sterling just had a 5 minute rant about the "god" Mariano Rivera and how he should be the Cy Young & MVP this year.

I know Hawk & DJ are pretty bad on the White Sox side as well. What happened to the Vin Scully school of impartial broadcasting? Does every hometown announcer have to be a shill for their teams?

Yeah they are disgusting to listen too.. I believe they are on WCBS...last nigth Sterling said the score was tied when the Yankees were still losing 2-1. Micheal Kay on YES is the worst of them all. I cant even listen to the game. He is terrible.

most announcers are now hired by the teams. used to be they were hired by the station. everyone is a homer.

makes you want to jump from the upper deck sometimes.

I find the "homer" mentality more interesting to listen than the impartial announcers. I like the White Sox WGN TV announcers. I think they keep the game lively.

Best announcer in baseball is Cohen for the Mets. Right down the middle....I also have a soft spot for Scully of course.

I think the play by play guy on YES is pretty impartial for the most part. For some reason he is my favorite play by play guy in bases, even if he is a yank. He just seems to always have the right zeal on everything.

I hear ya; just a pet peeve of mine when these guys outwardly root for their teams in place of giving an accurate play by play call.

Especially if you have action on the other side...

It's funny when the CWS are getting blown out, the announcers act like they dont even want to be at the game.

Sterling and that woman are nauseating. All of the MFY games are on the radio here in Tampa and it is horrible to listen to. I jump in quick to try to get a score and I can't listen! I think Sterling is the enabler, as Charley Steiner was corrupted as well. He makes me literally sick to my stomach.

White Sox announcers in a landslide. Ron Santo is an obvious homer for the Cubs but it's almost enjoyable hearing him cheering and moaning.

few years back can't remeber which one it was but was ripping on how overrated the Twins were while the Sox were 11 games behind them.

It bothers me more when the Yankees have the homer announcers that were mentioned than when somebody from KC or Pittburgh has one. Because the NY teams are really almost speaking to a national audience and should try to at least approximate the professionalism of a Mel Allen, Red Barber, Vin Scully, etc. In the smaller markets, it almost goes with the territory. (I'm a life-long Pirate fan for what its worth).
