How many here are sports fans or betting fans or both? The reason I ask is when I was younger I loved my sports, I knew almost every player, etc. As I get older, I see myself a betting fan.

Thanks,

Like many others I have turned into a person who bets. Like I give a shit if air force beats Col st in basketball all I care is that it goes under 104.5 for example. I still cheer for the home team but have no trouble betting against them.

I think TANG said it right here, Klowinn.

When we're younger, we wear rose-colored glasses and believe our team will win every game and is the "better team." Then we get a little older and move away from the hometown and/or broaden our perspective a little and learn to look at life (as well as sporting events) a little more objectively. This objectivity is what enables us to look for line value and exploit it, rather than just "pulling for the home team."

Being a recreational gambler, I still have teams I like to see win or lose, but I can also look for value. I think the hard-core number-crunching pros are probably more about the $$ and don't give a shoit which team wins as long as their team covers!

I only like hockey out of the major professional sports in North America. I watch and follow hockey.

Baseball I don't like, hardly watch. If I have a bet on the baseball game, I might watch it. Usually if I bet a baseball game, I check out the scores at CBS.com 3 innings or mid-way into the game. Even wiith a bet on, there is no way I will follow the baseball game the whole 9 innings.

NFL games, before I started betting again, I did not even want watch the games. The NFL game itself is not a very exciting game to watch. Half the time, just plain boring. The offensive touches the ball about 8 times a game. Many games when the offense gets it 5th possession, the outcome of the game is no long in doubt. College football is a much better game to watch if you're a football fan.

Basketball, myself don't watch, don't bet. Basketball betting is kind of like a 2½ hour horse race. Two horses contend all the way down to the point spread wire for 2½ hours. If you got heart trouble, don't watch or bet NBA, just go the track to lessen the stress on the heart.

This probably gets me in the most trouble when betting.

I try my best to make impartial #'s when handicapping a game, but undoubtedly I will lean more towards my Mets, Jets and Rangers. That's why I try not to bet on those teams, because I'll be almost as happy if they win

A little of both but if I bet against my team I would rather win the bet! After all, money is money.
