Can you make money betting on sports? The topic recently came up again on the posting forums. A more accurate way to look at this is to realize there is more than just one question to be answered and more than one level at which sports betting can be profitable.

The bettor who can best manage his time, focusing on the sectors of the betting world he has the biggest edge

With all the different "new" sports now available to the average sports bettor, specialization seems to me to be a very good way to stay competitive in the battle against the bookmaker. Sports like Soccer, Golf, NASCAR, Tennis, and a myraid of off the wall non sporting events like movie grosses offer a disciplined bettor a place to find a nyche that may produce regular profits.

Interesting point there Wilheim, I've seen similar thoughts expressed in other forums too, also, in my own experience to date, I've found that the more 'niche' markests do indeed seem to offer more opportunities in many instances, quite possibly as a combination of, the linesmakers paying less attention to these more peripheral sports and the bettors themselves actually taking the time to find more obscure yet relevant info.

Very fine article and one that is indeed very accurate.

On the subject you brought up Wil, the majority of sportsbettors do have a niche for certain sports and win year in and year out in them but then throw those profits away betting other sports..........for whatever the reason.
