Some of my buddies and I are heading to Wrigley Next week and I was wondering if I could get some insight on the hotels and such...
We need to find some sites or advise on hotels in the area of Wrigley, and mabye other interesting things to do,(basically bars) I have been there many times and I have partied there before, but is there anything new to know before we set out or changes to the area, so as not to be suprised.
The main thing is the hotel search so If anyone has any suggestions or what not let me know.
Thanks

The area around Wrigley is very residential so not a whole lot of hotels right nearby. There is a pretty nice Days Inn on Diversey about 1 mile South of the ballpark. Otherwise the best choice might be a downtown hotel in the North Michigan Drive, Wacker Drive, or Loop areas. These hotels are about 4 miles from the park but you can take the train ad get out right in front Wrigley. You can sometimes find very good deals on these hotels on hotwire.

There are a ton of bars right by Wrigley on Clark Street. Cubby Bear is the largest but they're all fairly good. If you do stay at the Days Inn,try Duffys on Diversey which also has good food and a good Sunday brunch.

stay at the drake on lake shore drive. perfect spot to be near great restaraunts. you'd have to cab it to wrigley from there...about $10 cab ride. as far as hang outs around wrigley....there are a ton. the best wrigley bars are the sports corner and murphy's bleachers. within 1 square mile, there are probably 50 bars.

And if you don't have a great time, its your own fault. A weekend in Chicago is always fun.

Just got back from a great weekend in Chicago to see Cubs/Cards series .... Courtyard by Marriott downtown and Hampton downtown (on Illinois street) are good places to stay and close to lots of action in the loop .... both are close to Mother Hubbards (located at Hubbard & State) which to me is the best sportsbar I have come across .... as earlier poster said you can take the redline train to Wrigley quite easily, lots of bars and stuff to do around Wrigleyville (I enjoy Murphy's & don't necessarily recommend the Cubby Bear as they don't sell Budweiser??), and then our experience was to come back downtown to visit bars like Mother Hubbards, Howling Wolf, O'Leary's to name a few, and then some music at Blue Chicago (we actually saw Tim McCarver at Blue Chicago on Saturday night) .... sounds like you have been before so know there is plenty to do in Chi-town and Wrigleyville in general. Casey Moran's, Bernies and John Barleycorns are some other good places in Wrigleyville (on Clark &/or Sheffield streets). Good luck and have fun.

Any ideas on how to get some bleachertix for Monday nites gm. We have a couple of tix for that gm already but want to sit together andneedlike 7 more.
What can we expect for a price range at the tix hubs or whatever they call the brokers there and how is the scalping of tix in the area??? :smoker2:

I'm almost certain scalping is illegal in Chicago but I've never seen it enforced at Cubs game as it is at United Center for Bulls and Big Ten and NCAA tourneys.

There are usually alot of sales activity on Clark street right in front of ballpark and also the 1st block south of park on Clark. Bleacher seats are also often sold on Sheffield near bleacher area. Bleacher seats are easier to squeeze 7 together as many people don't sit in their exact assigned spot.

You can try Ebay for tickets as their usually about 25% cheaper than Stubhub or brokers.

Good Luck and have fun at Wrigley. I've been going for the past 35 years and it was an easy ticket until the last 5 or so years.

If you're looking to hook up, Hi-Tops is your place. Located on Sheffield + Addison (Across from 7-11). Mother Hubbards downtown is quality too. There are tickets all over. They will be $75+ for bleachers for the night game. Make sure they are bleachers and for the game you want. There are many scammers there that will try to sell the day befores tix, upper deck etc. The night games are like a big frat party, better taking a cab. Oh, and all the bars around the park jack up beer prices to $5 before the game.

Still a great time though.

Go into the bars (Cubby Bear, Sports Corner, or Murphy's) before the game and sell them there. I wouldn't sell them on the street - many undercover cops looking to bust people scalping. Don't sell to the scalpers, they won't give you squat for the tix. You should have no problem getting $75 for the pair. I wouldn't take less than $60 for the pair. Also helps if you can get there a couple of hours before the game too.

$150/night...not bad and a great location. if you got 2 guys to a room, that's nothing.
