You have to love the core of young guys the DRays have playing with Crawford, Gomes, and Gathright.

Gomes and Gathright look like stars. That could be the 1, 2, 3 spots in their lineup next season:

CF- Gatright
LF- Crawford
DH- Gomes

What do you think of Gatright and Gomes?

I think Gatright might lead the league in steals next season if they throw him out there everyday.

Gomes just hit his 16th HR in only 227 at bats (1 every 14.2 at bats). Pretty impressive! That would turn into 35-40 with a full season of at bats.

Speaking of the Devil Rays, somebody just told me J.Cantu is the ugliest guy in all of sports. I didnt believe it until I saw for myself:

Don't know how long Gomes will be around, but the guy is fun to watch.

Finally a DRAY with a little swagger, something they need.

Gathright looks to be a solid utility player for a few years to come, not to high on him as a starter day in and day out.

Speaking of Cantu........he is on pace for very quiet 25 HR and 100 RBI season.

Cantu wears pants that are 3 inches to long for him too........and he wears his helmet down to his nose.

He is quite a character.

Gomes homered in the seventh to make it 3-1 and again in the ninth to give the Devil Rays a 4-1 lead -- both times swinging at the first pitch and both homers over the signs above the Green Monster.
The homers were the 6th and 7th of the season for the up and coming young superstar.

KAZ is currently in the process of throwing an absolute gem of a ballgame.

10 K's and a shutout through 7 innings......101 pitches thrown.

This kid could actually become a legit CY YOUNG AWARD contender for a LAST PLACE team.
