No ID or credit cards - HELP

I traveled out of the country and when I returned, I had my dayplanner stolen with everything in it:

Drivers License
Passport
Credit Cards
Checks
Social Security Card

THE WORKS...

Has anyone ever had this happen? I started by cancelling my credit cards and going into the DMV for a new drivers license (I got a temporary and took a new pic...but that won't arrive for 2-3 weeks).

What else do you suggest?

The other problem is if I end up at the bash Friday and Saturday. I don't have ANY id at all. I guess I could bring a birth certificate and utility bill...but nothing with photo id.

Any suggestions?

Wow that sucks! Clip you may want to have a fraud alert put on your credit reports until they recover your stuff. Just in case these clowns that stole your dayplanner start trying to open a bunch of fraudulent credit card accounts or something.

Also sometimes states (I don't know how it is in Cali) issue State ID's in lieu of Driver's Licenses and they can do those at the DMV that day. Might be advisable in case you need photo ID.

Thanks sportsbet...how do I put a "fraud alert" out on those?

I take it you are going to the bash? Which is why you are worried about this. Well if that is the case call the Nugget and speak to someone. I'm sure they have had travellers in this spot before so if there is something that can be done A.S.A.P they hopefully would know. I know this is after the fact but one shouldn't carry all their ID in my place in cause it gets lost. Hope all works out for the best.

You call the credit bureau and ask to flag any credit card apps for a period of time since you lost your credit cards.

You gotta call them...but it's a pain if you go to apply for a cc or a car loan or something. They'll want you to prove you're you and ask you 9 million Patriot Act questions.

Yea...the bash is the immediate concern as far as picture ID. But then it hit me that I can't even get on a flight without ID.

I agree and normally don't keep everything in one place but I had just gotten off a plane from another country so I had everything in one place from showing customs and all that. Big bummer for sure...

In the future (I know it doesnt help you in this case) always keep a photocopy of everything that is in your wallet....

this way you have a reference & a copy when you get home....

They lifted that at the gates...but you still need ID of some sort when you check in (birth certificate would do it in lieu of photo ID).

I think I have a copy of my drivers license because I had to use that a couple times to fax some things. Would that work anywhere?

Go to www.equifax.com. Then sign up for unlimited credit reports and the alert service ('equifax credit watch gold' is what I signed up for). Then get a new credit report about every 3 days just to make sure no one is using your credit cards. I signed up for a year and it was like a hundred bucks or so. Equifax will also email you when a new account is applied for by you (or someone trying to be you) and if your accounts change by 25% or more.

It really gives you a great peace of mind.

Yea...I asked about that when I was there. I was hoping there was something they could give me with a photo to use as "photo ID" until my new license comes but they said it takes the same amount of time.

It's too bad I am not 18 again or I could probably have 4-5 new drivers license's made in a couple hours with me being over 21! I don't have those contacts anymore!
