Dobler might have been the meanest man ever to play in the NFL. He was known for leg whips, biting, eye-gouging and any kind of cheap shot imaginable. In 1974, Dobler viciously punched Jim Pietrzak in the throat after the Giants rookie wished him good luck in the playoffs.

I read Dobler's autobiography a few years ago, but can't remember the title. He was completely candid about the fact that he was the dirtiest player in the league, with the leg whips and biting and all. His favorite weapon was a hard cast on his arm that he had to wear one year, which he would swing around and wallop people with. This guy had 'roid rage before there were 'roids.

That Dobler stuff is awesome!

I saw a thing on him on ESPN recently recently, his wife is paralyzed from a fall off a hammock, so he is mr nice now..
