ZACH DUKE on card, guess what i like

Taking Zach Duke + 6 to shut down the Metsies in the big spotlight of the big apple. I respect Victor Zambrano but he's good for a couple runs a game. I know, Duke has slipped some, so there's a gamble here. But Pirates have won 8 of last 12 meetings against Mets. & unlike Pirates, who have seen Zambrano, Mets never seen Zach Duke before, giving a little edge to the rookie's stuff.

Also like Red Sox +6 as a dog. Both starters are pitching well, but i give an edge to the BoSox bats. That might be stupid since they travelled last night. But I will always take the Red Sox when they're a dog to Bartolo. I don't think Bartolo is top shelf.

Last, taking under 7 in the Padres Marlins game. You can't ask for better shut out starters in Peavy & Beckett. Both have been lights out over the last few starts. Both sides' bats have been sleepy. This is my favorite play 2nite.

Duke, has been fading a bit.... hitters are starting to know his stuff and he has pitched a ton of innings this season.

SKINNY: Duke will pitch as scheduled on Thursday and not Friday, as some had speculated, the Pirates' Web site reports.

: The Pirates decided that Monday's off-day was enough of an extra rest for the young lefty. The team is concerned about overusing Duke. He's thrown 158 2/3 innings this year and tossed 167 innings last season, a career high. "I have a number (of innings), but it's not etched in stone," manager Lloyd McClendon said. "We'll see how things progress."

Duke is tremendous value right now because the Man & the betting public are still not sold on this kid. He gets a couple bad outings & suddenly people are sour on him. I think he's one of the best pitchers in the game & his stats are showing it. Amazing value, getting the better pitcher on the dog side 2nite. Unless he's facing Clemens or Carpenter, i'm gonna keep betting this guy.
