Bad Beat Jackpot is over $195,000!! WOW! What is the highest jackpot for poker ...?

<HR style="COLOR: #2b295e" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->The jackpot is over $195,000 at Harrah's in Lake Charles, La. What is the highest bad beat jackpot that you have ever seen at a las Vegas casino????

The bad beat rules at La. are
1. ace full of jacks or better
2. BEATEN by 4 of a kind or better
3. Both hole cards must play for winner and loser of bad beat
4. pot minimum of $30 or more

I was involved in a close call this week at harrahs. I had a straight flush using both of my hole cards in $5-5 no limit. The pot was around $950 so at least I won a nice amount.

-I had 8-9of diamonds.
-Flop came 6d-7d-ah
-Turn was 5 of diamonds.
-So I have the straight flush already and I slow play it.
-Actually 2 people call bets of $175.
-The river comes the 4 of diamonds.
-I again slow play it and one guy bets out $100, another guy goes all in for
-$200 more and I then raise it to $500 and the first guy folds.
-Well the first guy shows a 2 of diamonds and a 2 of diamonds!
- Then I show the 8d-9d of diamonds.
- A few people at the table start screaming and yelling because we won the bad beat.
- No someone explain why we did NOT in fact win the bad beat!

By the way, I knew immediately that we had not won since with that board no jacpot was possible

Because the guy had two 2 of diamonds schmuck. Fouled hand and all money returned. Now if you meant he had the 2-3 diamonds, then you should have had a jackpot. If he had the 23456d for small SF and you had 56789 d for the big sf why would you not have a jackpot.

Oh sorry I mean to say 2-3 of diamonds.

But no that is not a jackpot either. You see only the 3 of diamonds played from his hand since his BEST straightflush is the 3-4-5-6-7 of diamonds beaten by 5-6-7-8-9 of diamonds straight flush and per the rules, YOU MUST PLAY both cards to win the jackpot.

Can some MODERATOR change my 2nd post above where I wrote the hand the other guy had. I accidently put 2 of diamonds and 2 of diamonds. I meant to put 2 of diamonds and 3 of diamonds obviously.

Well I play every Saturday during the $500 tourney at the Isle of Capri

And next Sunday the 28th, I am playing in a $550 charity event for cash and prizes. First prize is a new car, second place a new boat and third place is round trip airfare and hotel for 7 days for the WORLD SERIES of Poker ANNDDDDDDDD a paid entry into the main event!

I do really well in some of the charity events in Texas and I have won 3 out of 5 that I have played and the other time i came in third. I won a new car in one tournament and then Rockets season tickets for this season in another small one! The Rockets charity tournament was a $200 entry fee with dinner and tickets to a game included.

The tournament next weekend should be a bit harder since I would expect around 300 people to be playing. I am hoping that only $100 people are playing though. Here is a link to the website. I am not playing in any of the satellites though. I will just pony up the $550.

pokerplayer, you should have been at the ISLE OF CAPRI yesterday to see me. I made $3400 at the $5-5 no limit table. I always play in the saturday tournament at the Isle, it cost around $400-500 to play depending on whether you opt for 1-2 rebuys at the break. It is a $15,000 guarantee event with the pool usually around $21,000 or so.

So far this year, I am up over about $21,000 JUST at these Saturday events!

Propokerplayer, do you still have my cell phone number from earlier in the year?

By the way, the $21,000 or so in profit is only from the Saturday tournaments at the ISLE. At Harrahs in tournament play, I am up AT LEAST another $32,000, but those tournaments are smaller entry fee tournaments, usually of around $125 each.

If you make it to Harrahs Lake Charles, you will see my photo on the wall in at least 3 places. They may have removed one of them because it was from a tournament over 1 year ago. But the other 2 photos are from winning the WSOP $12,500 1st prize end of the month tournaments.

Now I understand what you're saying. He had a 34567 and not a 23456. That really sucks doesn't it. You would have gotten the smaller jackpot swince he would have been the loser. I've never come across a situation like that.

However a friend of mine that was a dealer at the Commerce Casino in LA used to take off and play 15-30. He couldn't get into a game and sat down at a 10-20 blind game. Jackpots only went up to 10-20 so he wasn't used to the jackpot. He had pocket aces and the flop came a-10-8. He bet the other guy called. A ten comes on the turn. Bets and raises galore. Finally he figured he was beat and threw away his hand on the river. My other friend who was dealing just looked at him funny and asked what he had. The other guy meanwhile was showing his pocket tens. My friend with the hand told the dealer he had pocket aces. He blew the jackpot by not calling. He forgot it was a jackpot game. He made the right laydown but it cost him...and the dealer a fortune.

Propokerplayer, here is a link to the tournament on Sunday. But I will probably play in the $500 event at the Isle of Capri on Saturday as well.

Let me know if you can make it and I can set you up with a free room at harrahs for Saturday evening if you act fast.

Poker: First Mega Bad Beat hits for $365,401 at Seminole Hollywood
> Posted by Nick Sortal on January 5, 2010 07:01 AM

Two Fort Lauderdale men each took home more than $100,000 each for getting lucky at one hand of poker.
The men are the first to hit the Mega Bad Beat jackpot, which started building up Dec. 1 at the six Florida poker rooms operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
A bad beat is when a player with an apparently unbeatable hand loses to a better hand. The Seminoles put the minimum losing hand at four 10s.
So at 10:45 p.m. Sunday at Seminole Hollywood Classic, Roderick Jones drew the 6 and 7 of club and Harvey Langer got the jack and queen of clubs. The flop, turn and river included three cards in the middle, the 8-9-10, giving each player a straight flush.

Jones got $182,705 and Harvey Langer won $109,622. The seven other players at the table split the remaining $73,081, or $10,440 per person.
Langer is at left, with dealer Jennifer Roach in one photo and poker manager Warren Targia in the other. Jones is on the right.
The cumulative Mega Bad Beat Jackpot was reset at $132,703 and is again growing.
Dealers rake $1 contribution from each pot of $10 or greater to stoke the bad beat pool. It's at: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Hollywood, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tampa, Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, Seminole Casino Immokalee, Seminole Casino Brighton, and Seminole Casino Hollywood.

The Seminoles' quote:

“Only the Seminole Casinos can offer the Mega Bad Beat Jackpot, so we’re excited to announce this jackpot so soon after its debut. By combining the bad beat jackpots of six casinos, the life-changing winnings are greater for our patrons,” said Jeffrey Hook, vice president of marketing for Seminole Gaming.
Previously, the Seminole casinos poker rooms had been offering bad beat jackpots at their own casinos.

The story is wrong...

"So at 10:45 p.m. Sunday at Seminole Hollywood Classic, Roderick Jones drew the 6 and 7 of club and Harvey Langer got the jack and queen of clubs. The flop, turn and river included three cards in the middle, the 8-9-10, giving each player a straight flush."

That is not what happened by looking at the cards.

Still a very nice jackpot, obviously.

I've seen the BBJP over $200,000 at Seneca Casino in Niagra Falls. Think it is 4 of a kind minimum, not 4 tens minimum.
