It won't happen, if it was going to be changed to a rule similar to college and high school football, they would have already done it....tht being said, i WISH THEY WOULD CHANGE THE O.T. RULE.
Atleast make them have to score a TD in OT, the OT rule stinks.
I can understand allowing both teams a shot at scoring intead of sudden death, but I don't like the college rules because they start at the other teams 25 or something like that - if they are going to get rid of sudden death - they should have normal kick-offs in o.t.

NFL..should change OT Rule to exactly what the NCAA has..
OT is about equitty..The team that gets the ball first has the advantage..
If the team winning the toss wins the game - and its a SUPER BOWL, the outcry will be there and it will be ignored. If it happens in a Super Bowl again within 3-4 years, the rules will be changed.
IMO, unless this affects the Super Bowl, nothing will change.
I think it should happen but I also think they should change the scoring rules. No stats should count in OT. Ridiculous that a player can rush for 3 td's in OT and they count the same as a regulation TD. Also something has to be done about the totals. Going 5 OT's and having a score of 63-57 and allowing those points to be calculated in the teams PPG as well as the Vegas totals is ludicrous. Take the score at the end of regulation and then add on the points only from the final overtime period that decides the game.
I aslo favor the one foot in bounds over 2 feet. Also in college, there is no "force out" rule on passes. You are allowed to hit a receiver while in the air - causing him to land out of bounds and it is ruled incomplete. Either you are in or you're out. Leaving it up to the refs to decide whether he would have come down in bounds or not is not a good idea. And it is not reviewable.
I'd like to see them adopt the Arean Football League rule
EACH team is guaranteed a possession. If tied after that - THEN it becomes Sudden Death
What usually happens is the team that wins the flip chooses to play defense first. if they give up a TD - then score one of their own to pull within 1 - they almost always go for 2 and the win (or loss) knowing odds are great the other team will at least geta FG attempt
i'd like to see the NFL do this - but it will NEVER happen because it is "forward thinking" and the NFL rarely does that
I think if they are going to have it like it is, there should be no kickoff. They changed the ball a little and backed up the kicker to ensure more offense so now the ball is out to the thirty way too often to make it a fair situation in OT. Just start at your own twenty if you want the ball and that would help a little bit.
