Phil Steele for colleges, take your pick on the pros they are all about the same. Gold Sheet puts out something decent that covers both.

I agree with wildbill steele for college is best. NFL, steele puts out a decent book, but they are all about equal and nfl.com provides plenty of free nfl data.

If you order the steele mag directly, he sends the NFL mag free of charge.

Agree WB, have both, plus Blue Ribbon via mail., but Steele is absolutely putrid in NFL lately, especially Preseason(the very thing he once hung his hat on)..I think he has become a college top twenty specialist the last few years..very accurate with his college unit sets.

What are you looking for? They are all about the same for NFL anymore. I used to buy the Feist annual for football, actually was far and away the best for the pro game, but no longer being printed. For now buy the Gold Sheet, but really I don't think any magazine is anything more than hype and pictures when it comes to the pro game.

I used to get the Feist $35 annual, mostly for it's notebook spiral that allowed easy access and margins to make game notations to work from during the season.

WB, I agree that most NFL annuals have been rendered obsolete in today's computer age, as OOBG, Covers,etc..all have far more free info than any previous or current books on the stands can hold..most are just masturbatory material for us sickies to fascinate over until the real season arrives.

SS, I don't think there is an must have NFL yearbook.

I also agree with above comments.

Best place to check regarding all gaming publications is the Gamblers book club in vegas, www.gamblersbook.com , . On their website, they have a complete list of all FB publications, including annuals, plus reviews by Howard Schwartz. Call them up on the 800# on the site, ask for Howard, tell him what you're looking for, and you can order right over the phone.

He has the Steele and Feist publications in stock, and I saw some others that look kind of interesting. StatFox has a FB annual now.

If ATS records are important, remember that Sporting News and Street and Smith publications do not have spread records.

IMHO, this is like asking who is the BEST

player for the Chicago Bulls over the past 20 years?

Phil Steele's handicapping performance has been up and down over the past few years, but his college football annual is without peer for those of us who like TONS of information relating to personnel; ATS records; etc.

One would be better off buying Steele's pub than any other four college preseason magazines.

Good luck this season,
Paul
