A recent Las Vegas newspaper article predicted that legal sports wagering will soon spread beyond the borders of Nevada. However, the view from here is that open sports wagering in other jurisdictions is a long way off.

arne lang was on my local radio for a preview college football show.

That guy is smart. I mean a caller could of called him and asked about Rutgers and he knew everything about them, from their qb, to rb, to wr.

I seem to recall the state of Deleware considering some sort of parlay card type of sports betting, but am not sure what happened there.

It lasted for a few weeks back in the 70s I believe, then died off due to no business. Some lawmakers are making noise about legalizing sports betting to offset potential revenue losses to PA and possibly MD should they ever get their act together on slots. Governor Minner is completely against it though and race tracks supposedly are lukewarm on it, even though one would think they would be fired up since it would be betting only allowed at the tracks.

The state of Delaware years ago decided to get into the sports betting business. Only trouble was they decided to run it themselves, without professional help. No casino or sportsbook middleman. They would keep all the profits for the state. After all, it was simple to run, right? It lasted one football season as they lost their tail at it. It was rumored and I'm sure it was true that Vegas was laying off their bets in Delaware. A total disaster. That is what happens when people without the proper expertise get into something they know nothing about. It wasnt from lack of business that they went down but from too much losing (for them) business.
