With the NHL doing away with TIES, will this make you more interested to wager on it?

but in the Past, the bookies offered the 1/2 puck line.....

so even if the game ended in a TIE.... there was always a winner for betting purposes if u used that line.....

I imagine they will now be offering 1 1/2 puck lines on all games, aswell as ML's.....

I loved ties before they introduced the 5-minute OT. Some match-ups were obvious picks...well, as obvious as can be, as some teams actually played for a tie on the road.

I like the new rule as a sports fan but not as a gambler.

the winner of the SHOOTOUT gets 1 goal......

I imagine totals will have to be slightly higher to compensate,

OR

the SHOOTOUT will not count for the TOTAL count.....

I doubt it will effect the lines at all. The wagers probably will be graded at the end of regulation. Factoring the possibility of shootout into a line would seem difficult.

hope not - that would be BOGUS and NOT the way things are done in the USA where the FINAL score is what gets paid - unlike Europe and other places where they hae 3-way lines and it is only on regulation not any OT

my guess is the books will pay on the final score for it will be way too confusing any other way. imagine betting OVER 4.5, seeing a final score of 3-2 and thinking you won only to be told you lost because it was 2-2 headed to OT. TRUST ME - that will not take long for massive outrage to build up

as others have said - i think betting the NHL will be like MLB as far as a straight M/L or you can lay -1.5

whoever wins the shootout.... gets 1 goal.... that is it, that is all......

so it shoudnt be too hard to factor that in.....

I imagine there'll be 60 minute betting and game betting. Look to 5Dimes to get all the options.

I would imagine that that would also apply to individual player stats. Goals scored in shootout probably do not get added onto a player's season goal totals..., right?

I imagine they woudnt count? :icon_conf

throw the record books in the garbage though, the way the game changes over the years & decades mean that the records of one ERA are meaningless in another ERA

Yeah, you're right, it's always changing. I remember when Kariya was leading the league in scoring in the early 90's, and Gretzky saying: 'if Kariya played when I played, in the 80's, he'd be scoring 200 points.' Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a new era of high scoring and records being threatened. But the game has changed too much...
