Sportscapper MLB Play for Sunday – Florida Marlins

In a matchup between two excellent hurlers, the Marlins and Cubs are two teams going in opposite directions. Chicago has lost 6 of 7 and stands 8 1/2 games back from the wildcard and is fading fast. The Marlins meanwhile, have won 3 in a row and 7 of their last 10, fighting tooth and nail for that wildcard berth. The pressure rests squarely on the Marlins, and lucky for them, they have one of their aces pitching today in Josh Beckett.

Although getting into trouble in his last start, Beckett has pitched phenomenally after losses, posting a 5-1 record and 2.41 ERA. He and the rest of his teammates are well aware of how close the N.L. Wildcard race has become, and know they have to play they're best baseball coming into today's game. Miguel Cabrera and company should give enough run support in what should be a very low scoring pitcher's battle. Carlos Zambrano has been red hot, but fortunately the Cubbies bats have been ice cold, so look for the Marlins to pull out the close victory and get one step closer to the N.L. Wildcard.
