Roger Federer is -144 to win the U.S. Open. Can anyone remember the last player to have those kind of odds on winning ANY tennis tournament, period? I can imagine Sampras had something in that ballpark, but even when he was dominant guys like Agassi and co. were still formiddable opponnents.
Just curious if anyone can recall some of these lines...i think it's nuts, and what's even crazier is that I won't touch the other side of this play cause the guy is THAT good.

I also thought it was nuts for the past several years that Lance Armstrong was a favorite against a field many many more....

I know right, on paper you've got to love the field, but I just can't bet against these guys...too dominant right now.

Same type odds with Tiger Woods a couple years ago which was unheard of for golf tournaments up to that point.

There are still some wonderful

hedging opportunities out there though. It's still a crap shoot of who will get to the quarters and semi's besides Fed so there are some great longshots. Mario Ancic is one and he has a great draw! I mean fantastic. You can still get him at 5dimes at 300-1. Also Dent at 200-1 to come out of that draw isn't a bad play either.

Dsethi - Too bad we didn't get a chance to talk tennis last week. I recorded the Wimbledon final where Federer played the best tennis of his life - or anybody elses. I've watched it 20 times. I missed his matches on TV last week when we were at the bash, but it's obvious that Roddick can't compete with him. If Nidal or even Safin gets to the final it could be interesting. I wanted to wager, but he should be even money, so I'd like to get at least +125, and my place had him a prohibitive odds-on. I shopped around one time he was in a final earlier this year and it was between -600 and -800. It's a shame that more books don't put up props to make it interesting. Mel
