My genius of a wife, left her laptop on the floor and my son stepped on it and cracked the screen.....any inexpensive ways of getting it replaced?

Buy a monitor and a keyboard and a mouse, close the lid and make it a desktop.

Buy a new Notebook it's toast. Sorry but the LCD is the Most expensive thing to replace not to mention the labor involved.

Cincy & Jarbo are both right. Depending on your laptop, you may be able to just use an external monitor. If not, screw the whole thing---it will be damn near as much as you paid for the thing new.

Sorry to hear the bad news. A piece of advice, sometimes it's more expensive to replace a laptop component plus remember, someone has to remove the old one and replace it with the new one. Best to purchase a new laptop, that's if you can.

Good luck..

Sherman, if you end up buying another laptop, you may want to ask about screen insurance. I know that some companies offer it, and I've come out ahead getting it on all of the laptops at the office.

I agree. I didn't buy it for mine. I never buy it for something like a washer or refrig. I'd only consider it for electronics. I did get it for big screen TV which was good since it blew a $600 picture tube.

In general, extended warranties are usually a losing prop, but as far as laptop screens go, we've saved a LOT of money.

It's the only thing we've ever bought the "add on warranty" for, and will continue to do so.

just replaced mine, $480 Canadian which works out to about $400 US.

Got it from a techie I use to help me when I have computer issues.

Before him I had several quotes in the $600-$700 range.

depending on how my season goes, i might be looking to unload a toshiba laptop i own...

Warranty is already expired but you can re-new it.. Also, i had problems with it that were fixed about 3 weeks ago...(Known issue with my particular model...It was over heating, plus they all had a loose power connection that made it impossible to recharge the battery...All was fixed however and it works fine)

I wont be selling it unless i have a good run for the first few weeks..If i do sell it
i will be looking for about 500 to 600....

model number is a75-s206 it has a huge ass screen, its heavy as hell and i will throw in a free extra battery...(both of them were bought at the same time and still work at their premium) Check out the specs online and get in touch in about 3 or 4 weeks if you are interested

Sherman, a few years ago I got my replacement off ebay and had a friend put it on for me, it did not take too long and was fairly inexpensive. Have you checked Ebay? Just an Idea, Good Luck.

Sherman: You could do it Seinfeld style. Mail it to a buddy ( insured), have buddy claim PO broke it. If you get caught it's only a minor felony.
