I think that Katrina will force the Saints to relocate for good.

New Orleans was already the 2nd smallest market in the NFL and quite frankly after this storm I dont think that the city economy will have the money to support this team any longer. I had a chance to see a little of this damage first hand today on the outskirts. The television does not do any justice to what you are seeing. I never had the chance to go to New York after the World Trade Center went down but I do know several people who have and everyone of them said the TV did not do it justice. I now know what they are talking about. I truthfully dont see how N.O will ever be able to keep the Saints much past this season.

You may be right....this will hurt the city and state economy in a HUGE way. Hell, it's going to put a damper on the national ecomony.

World economy actually they are saying.

Saints probably should have left town years ago, paying them over $10 mil a year to stay was ridiculous. Benson wasn't losing money on the team and he truly doesn't have a better place to go, he just likes to say he does. The NFL might do a little better with a team in LA, but Benson will only make more money if he can swindle it out of local officials. People in LA though aren't buying it. No one really cares about the NFL coming there and therefore no sweetheart deals with be forthcoming.

Shhh...don't remind Paul Tagliabue or David Stern about this, but Las Vegas has a bigger metro area population than NOLA now and the gap obviously is about to get much bigger. Both towns are driven by tourists, drinking, and gambling. The city of New Orleans makes more direct tax revenue from one casino than the city of Las Vegas does. But don't tell these guys to bring a team here, oh no, those lousy sportsbooks would kill the reputation of the leagues. YEAH RIGHT!

Wildbill............GREAT point!
Yes New Orleans is gone for good as the way we knew it.
Las Vegas needs something like an NFL team for sure but, i think that will not happen as you know how they feel about bettin on a sports team there.
