While the traditional football wager requires a bettor to risk $11 to win $10 - a reasonable 4.5 percent cut for the house - the percentage number on a Super Bowl future book wager usually is equivalent to Tony Siragusa's cholesterol count.

There is definetly "gold in them there hills" regarding futures!

Many astute gamblers profit from them greatly.

Personally, I do not give enough attention to them as I should and probably should be disgusted with myself that I don't.

One negative factor with futures is sometimes your money is tied up for a long period of time where it may be making a better return someplace else.

My most memorable future wager ever was taking the Minnesota Twins at 40-1 to win the AL pennant the year they did so in 1987. The added bonus was that I had a few of my friends on the same wager.

All in all, a nice article on futures and one that should stir some renewed interest in posters here to take a more serious look at this avenue of wagering.
