Two drunk driving arrests, and jailed in his hometown of Aruba in the offseason, Sidney Ponson was finally given his walking papers in Baltimore.

The Orioles will try to get away with not paying the out of shape loser, by citing his poor moral conduct, apparently their is a clause in his contract, and the Birds are going to use it....

The players union will fight this all the way to arbitration, but either way Baltimore deserves credit, for once, for doing the right thing.

Sorry to see him go. He was my baseball version of Jeff George: Just find out when he's starting and fade him or, in Sir Sydney's case, take the over, too!

I agree the O's did the right thing- but it sure does take a long time before Flanagan, Beattie or Angelos take any action on anything.

And thats why they play the game.

10 million reasons why they were passive I suppose...now watch the tub-o-goo sign with a contender and win 18 games next year...doubtful!

Even the A's pitching factory would have a hard time turning this clown around, he's too spoiled. :cartman:

The union can bitch all they want, but I'd have to say that they have a pretty damn good leg to stand on.

No player has ever lost in arbitration, even under these circumstances...

We shall see, perhaps a settlement will be worked out....he doesn't deserve another cent IMO...

Any player that signs a monster contract and comes in 30 lbs heavier , after already being overweight, is a joke.

Made a lot of money fading Fat Sidney through the years.

They should release Palmeiro (and Sosa) for the same reasons. I will give Angelos a standing O if he has the guts to do that.

I really thought this tub-o-lard would turn into a great pitcher someday. Sonny would have slapped this bum around for wasting his talent.

The Orioles and Angelos aren't doing "the right thing" they are just trying to get out of paying him. Not saying I don't agree but the phrase Angelos and the right thing in it is way off. Just ask former players, gms and announcers and anyone else ever associated with that peice of sht.
